I fell last summer and knocked out one of my front teeth (actually I hit my tooth on the ground so hard that it cracked the root and the dentist said it had to come out). I have already spent so much money and still owe alot to the dentist and he told me it would be another $6,000 to get a permanent tooth put in. Insurance doesn't cover any of my fall because it wasn't an automobile accident. My question is does anyone know of any dentist (that's very flexible) or maybe even charities that help out with this kind of thing?

What can I do next?

Try calling one of the Universities that have a dental school. They used to give free services or very reduced fees to people who were willing to let a dental student work on them, supervised of course. Worth a shot. You can do the same thing with Beauty/hair styling schools, Logan Chiropractic school etc. :)

That sounds outrageous for a tooth! There's a dentist in Old Monroe which is about 20 min (12 miles from k& 70) from OFallon & he is very good & gives HUGE discounts for cash/non insured patients. My mom doesn't have insurance for her or my brother that is still at home & he has saved them hundreds, she's had to have bridges re-cemented, replaced & other problems & I know she hasn't spent a thousand yet.
His name is Dr. Timothy Sills and number is ###-###-####. It's worth at least talking to him.

L.,

Sorry to hear about your tooth. I knocked out both of my front teeth when I was a kid and have had a lifetime worth of work done on them since. About 3 years ago, I had to get my permanent bridge replaced with implants. All in all, I think it cost me about 10,000 and my insurance paid for about $1,500. My dentist referred me to Dr. William Cohen to put in the implant (I'm not sure if you are going this route or not). He let me pay in monthly installments but it was set up so that they automatically charged my credit card each month (I applied for a Discover card that had 0% interest for 6 months). Dr. Cohen is at 777 S. Ballas Rd., Suite 217W and his number is ###-###-####.
Then I had to pay my dentist for his part. I was lucky to borrow the money from my mom and pay her back but there was this dental loan that I could have applied for. I think it's called Dental Care or something like that. You could talk to your dentist about it.
Sorry I don't know of any charities that help with this sort of thing. I do know how frustrating it is and I remember crying on the phone when they told me how much it would cost. I don't understand why insurance companies don't pay for this sort of thing. It's not like people knock their teeth out on purpose and front teeth are pretty important (but the insurance company views it as cosmentic).
Good luck with everything!

Have you tried dental school in your area? I am a nurse and a patient of mine had to have all her teeth pulled and new ones put it in and she had to go the dental school route for financial reasons and it was a Godsend for her. Just a thought, good luck!
