is it when she goes in a car seat or high chair ??? I think they start to resist doing what you want and arch their back at that age......idk. but sounds normal. I am sorry that I don't know what that reflux is..... no help there.
My 8 mo daughter has started arching her back and lifting her chin, very brief, maybe 3 seconds. I have not noticed much of a pattern, maybe mostly when she is fussy? I took her to dr today because it scared me. Dr said she seemed fine (no developmental or seizure type issues) and was not too concerned but its still bothering me. Could it be reflux? She has never really had problems spitting up much but occassionally I have noticed that she seems to swallow it and wakes frequently during night to eat (breastfed), but doesn't seem to be doing it while she's eating and doesn't always occur immediately after. **I guess my biggest concern is that it didn't seem like a voluntary thing, I was scared it might seizure type thing but dr said probably not. It did not appear to be a typical frustrated behavior, was unsettling to me. She has been doing it an average of 5-6 times a day that I have noticed.

That's exactly what my twins were doing when they were diagnosed with reflux, but I'm curious why your Dr. wasn't concerned about that. Maybe there are other symptoms they also look for that your little one didn't have? I ended up putting my kiddos on Prevacid, which helped, but we also saw a chiropractor who helped a lot too! Good luck, hope she feels better soon :)
Could just be a new learned behavior. Babies are wonderful for
doing new abnormal things. When they get a reaction from you,
they keep it up. A possibility?
It's normal for a baby to arch their back and tip their head back. I must be missing something here. If she's not crying or spitting up after eating I would not consider reflux. Is she doing this when you're feeding her? Perhaps she's pulling away from your breast or bottle.
Arching her back and tipping back her head are good muscle building motions. Babies often do this while they're laying on their back or when they are protesting something you want them to do, such as being buckled in a car seat or high chair.
Sounds like reflux to me and I have three toddlers with the same problem and two of them has had surgery for it.
