Hi S..
I can give you a little info but not much. On Tues we go to a playgroup on base. I don't know if you are military or not.
Wed there is storytime at the Waldorf library at 9:15. They read books, sing and dance. Tomorrow May 2nd there is a puppet show at Watkins Park (301 Watkins Park Dr. Upper Marlboro, MD 20774. (If you want to go, call to reserve a spot ###-###-####). It's $2. I just called to check and there are spots left. They also have a craft afterwards. We go around 11 and park at the "playground" and walk across the street to the "old maryland farm" then walk through the playground to the nature center. If you go bring a couple of quarters to purchase corn from the vending machine to feed the chickens and ducks.
On Thursdays: At 9:30 - 11:00, there's a Moms & Tots group that gets together at the South Potomac Church (4915 Crain Hwy White Plains, MD). The kids will be in a separate room where they will be supervised as they play in a toy room (they charge 3 bucks), then the Moms get together in the Lobby to discuss different topics. For the month of May, the discussion will be about Parenting. But this week (May 3rd), they're having a field trip to the National Zoo in DC, everyone will meet at 10:30am at the Zoo Barn. I am not going this week b/c I have family coming next week and we are going to the zoo then.
Friday, there's "Totsicles" at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf from 10am - 11am (it's located behind the AC Moore store). The first half hour, the kids get on the ice to play (they have various toys and sleds--and they don't have to wear skates, just regular shoes as long as it's not open-toe). Then the second half hour, they'll read them a couple of books in the lobby and serve them hot chocolate with a snack. The cost is $7.00 per child (adult is free).
Also on Fridays is a gymnastics class called Kidfit offered at the Elite Gym in Waldorf (it's on Old Washington Rd across from Walmart). They have one class from 9:30-10:15am, and another class at 10:30. It's for ages 0-4yrs old. (cost is $4.00 per child, no charge for parent). They just get together to sing and dance as a group, then the instructor guides them through the various equipment and the kids just tumble and jump around the place.
Hope that helps. I am looking for more stuff to do and also asking other moms on base so I can let you know as I find things.
I stay at home everyday so I am always around to do whatever.
