Plano/Allen Fitness Centers W/ 13Yo and 16Yo Accompanying Me

I'm looking to join a fitness center in the Plano-Allen area, and this summer I would have my 13 yo and 16 yo daughters with me. The club websites (like Lifetime fitness) are not always informative when it comes to their policies on teens. It's no good if I have to stay with the 13 y.o. all the time if she can't attend classes. If she can be on her own then I can still do classes. Both girls want to get more fit so it's not like I'd be dragging them along; they can stay home if they don't want to go.

What can I do next?

I have the perfect place for you....http://rhythmsandfitness.com/leadingcastrhythmsandfitness...

The owners are Steve and Teresa (husband and wife) and they have classes to meet everyones needs including families. Look through their website and you'll see there is a ton for just the teenagers or they can join you in a Zumba class or a Chisel Fit class. I do their Boot Camp classes which are super intense, but you will define muscle, that's for sure! I love this place and highly recommend how family friendly they are!

Lifetime does allow kids 12 and up on the floor, but don't know exactly the policy. Cooper Fitness Center in Craig Ranch (just up Alma) is another place and I'm fairly certain it's the same there...and they are more family oriented than Lifetime. Rhythms and Fitness is AWESOME but it's not a gym (if that's what you're looking for). My kids (7 and under) actually attend classes at R&F and I can attest to how great they are!

Plano recreation centers have great facilities. My son was getting up and going with me at 5am every morning. He wasn't allowed in the weight room at the time but was free to swim, play basketball, run the indoor track, play pool, ping pong, air hockey or just watch t.v. We were going to Oak Point on the East side. The price was right too! You can take a tour of the facility and see if it works for you.

We are members of the Russell Creek YMCA, (on West McDermott) and they allow teens to work out on their own. We have been very happy there. They don't try to sell you any extras like other gyms.

I'm pretty sure that once children are 12 they are allowed to work out on their own at Lifetime (I go to the one in Allen and LOVE it!). Hope that helps!
