We are planning a trip next summer to Disney World. It will be for 2 adults and 3 kids- age 5 to 16 at time of trip. We are wanting to start saving up for the trip each month. My question is for those of you who have gone before. How much do you suggest we save up?? We will need round trip airfare, hotel, car, and park tickets plus food. We are planning on staying about 5-7 days. We are in West Texas. I have no idea how much this trip will cost so any tips would be appreciated. Also, if there are any package deals, also feel free to give me info on those.

I strongly suggest going to disney.com
I am planning a trip this summer for myself, my husband, and 3 kids (ages 1, 4, 8).
Not including airfare, we got 6 days, 5 nights for $1300!! That includes the hotel room and a 5 day hopper pass. My husband doesn't like airplanes, so we are driving, so I don't have any input on that part. You could also google cheap disney vacations. There are so many discounted packages. With disney.com they take payments. I think it was about $300 down for me, and then the rest has to be paid off 45 days prior to the vacation.
Hope this helps!

they will be, if they aren't already, pushing their free dining package soon.... Stay at a disney resort - really, it's totally worth the bus, the dining plan, etc... We have done the Dolphin and All-star movies. I actually enjoyed All-Star Movies more and it's a value resort. The rooms there are eh, but we didn't spend much time in them. Plus they have TONs of activities for the kids at the All-Star Music. Movies by the pool, etc...

my sister in law JUST came home from there and told me all about it. She said a MUST read is something call The unoffical guide to walt Disney (or something like that) she also said you MUST MUST MUST check out the website and go on the slow days...because the slow days are still jam packed. They planned their trip to get up early in the morning, go to the park and get as many speedpasses through 11 or 12..then they went back ate lunch and took a nap (all of them) they went back to the park around 3 and never had to wait in lines because of all the morning preps they did and getting the speedpasses. She also had to book reservations for meals 6 months in advance. they were there for 5 days and for 4 people she said it cost a good 5k and they are very good with their money (borderline cheapos)
Not sure about the package deals but I bet their are better deals going on the slower times. She also said to not feel bad about pulling the kids out of school...its worth it to have those memories as a family. I remember my family trips WAY more than my 4th grade year of school.

I would HIGHLY recommend the meal tickets they offer. So much per day...3 times a day...1 counter meal...1 snack..and 1 sit down meal a day. Instead of paying as you go. Also...if you stay in Disney World...the cost of your hotel goes down dramaticly if you purchase the meal tickets. If you are military...you can get the best rates for everything on any military installation. We got a 4 day hopper pass for $138.00(four parks...four days. Also what I did is sign up for Chase Visa Disney Rewards credit card. I put every single thing I would have put on my regular debit card on this Visa...including monthly bills....etc...and right before you get ready to go on vacation...they will send you a debit card for all the reward dollars you have earned...you can spend it on anything in Disney.
