how do you get "pit stains" out of your husband's shirts? I've tried vinegar, soaking in OxyClean, everything short of scrubbing by hand - must be the deodorant that is just impossible to get rid of! Any suggestions?
I HAVE THE ANSWER... It is called IRON OUT. Makes your whites the whitest you would ever see them. Also takes out calcium iron and rust. YET. It is safer than CLR and Bleach. Good for your washing machine and septic system. Find it at your local farm store. Cleans bathrooms too. Just a tiny capful goes a long way. Maybe $15 the most for large bottle. 3 years til we had to buy another one.
Try using a detergent with enzymes, like Era. I put full strength era on sweat and food stains, let it sit for 48 hours, then wash as usual. If it is the sweat, the enzymes will eat the stain basically. It is probably the deodorant, but its worth a shot. It works on ring around the collar, so I would try it there too. It helps if you do it before they are dried and set in.
Hmm, don't know if this would work, but blue dawn dishsoap is used to get the diaper cream out of cloth diapers so they will absorb again. Maybe it will work on the deoderant?
Those pit stains sure are hard to remove! Does your husband wear an undershirt under his regular shirt? I find that really saves on the regular shirt and so what if we go through those undershirts...maybe just another solution to try if he's not already wearing one...
I've also heard that a paste of baking soda and peroxide for 30 minutes works. Good Luck!
You can try scrubbing with sea salt. Mix it with the soap so it makes a coarse scrub. Then rinse and repeat, leaving the mixture on overnight. Depending on how bad it is, it might at least lighten the stains. I used this on my husband's shirts when he worked in a hotel. You should be able to get sea salt at any grocery, especially a large store, in the spice aisle. You could try kosher salt if you cannot find sea salt.
