J.C. - it's basically an online bulletin board. If you find something you like on the internet, instead of bookmarking the page, you "pin" the picture to your page, and you can share it with your friends. Then if you (or your friends) click on it, it takes you back to the original page that you pinned.

I love pintrest! When I signed up I didn't have an invite. I just went to the website and clicked on "request invite" and they e mailed it to me right away and I'm hooked now!
