Pretty sure both my boys had pillows beginning at this age, maybe a little younger. They can roll over and change positions if they aren't getting good airflow so I wouldn't be worried. I would just choose a thinner, flatter pillow.

The reason that we do not put pillows in a baby's bed early on is because they are unable to change positions if they're unable to breathe. At 11 months, if your son is able to move around, including turning over, he is fine with a pillow.

Especially you want him to have a pillow because you say he can't sleep without it. You do want him to sleep. A pillow is a normal and usual way of sleeping. He can roll over so that his breathing in not blocked. It is definitely OK for him to use a pillow.

He may want a pillow and can't sleep without it because his nose gets stuffy when he's lying flat. I use two pillow so that I can breathe better when my nose is stuffy.

this is something I would ask his doctor about. My daughter is placed on the matress with her blanket over her body not head, and she ends up balling it up and using it under her head and she is 12 months old.

As long as it is not too big and fluffy, he should be just fine!

I'm one of those moms too. I wouldn't let him have it. Even though he's almost at that 12 month mark where you wouldn't have to worry about SIDS, infants just don't need anything in the crib with them-toys, blankets, bumpers.

If it is small and firm it should be ok. Just make sure its not big and fluffy.
