Hello Ladies, I need your advise... My husband is driving our 1.5 year old to the day care in the mornings. Unfortunately, he has a pick-up truck Ford. Which means only one row of seats (the law says it's ok to put car seat up front if only one row is available). She has been riding in the infant seat facing back to the windshield all this time, but getting to big for the infant seat. We need to buy a regular car seat (we have one in my car), but here is my issue... Since there is only one row of seating I am nervous about her being so close to windshield (front seat), also sometimes my husband drives other people in the car so the seat has to be either thin or easy to take out... The whole situation is making me nervous, yet he has to be the one driving her in the morning (I pick her up in the afternoon). We cannot afford a 3rd car and hubby due to business needs pick up. Pleeease let me know your thought and what would you recommend. Thank you.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow I have to say I'm very disappointed. I had ask a serious questions (I know all the questions are important) yet, the answers we got were: get a 3rd car, maybe you can drive her, maybe your husband can drive her and come back those 20 min. one way.... unfortunately all those are impossible... if they were this easy I would not post a question and bother you. I just asked for a simple to install and take out, thin but safe car-seat.
So this site seems like a wonderful idea/resource, but I'm disappointed... sorry.

Hi, my husband used to have a 1998 Ford Ranger with only one row of seats and fold up jobbies in the back. For our 2 year old, he had her facing the windshield in her car seat and he always shut off the air bag for the passenger side to protect. I would look at Walmart for a car/booster seat. They are usually around 15 bucks and are approved, but thinner than normally ones. Good luck.

I think that car seats aren't supposed to go in the front seat. Are there any other options?

i'm sorry to say this, but if the truck has airbags and the baby is in the front seat, they could cause fatal injuries. it should say on the windshield visor that you cannot put a child in a carseat on the front seat. maybe you could find out about another mom who goes to the same daycare and carpool with her or something. i would never ever let my kids in the front sear of a car - i would be too afraid of them getting hurt. maybe the new laws have me brainwashed, but i guess in a way it makes sense to keep little ones in the back seat. maybe you guys could purchase a 'station car' - cheap little gizmo, good on gas, that you could use for this purpose.

Any chance that he could take your daughter to daycare in your car, then go home and switch over to his truck?
