Anyone have a good suggestion of places to get some good Pictures of kids south of dallas or Arlington areas? I am wanting to take some pictures of my Niece and Nephews and use them to make some christmas gifts. I am looking for outdoor and indoor locations.

What can I do next?

I'm not real familiar with the area, but college campuses are often great places to start. They have interesting architecture, good landscaping, and large open areas.

When I was visiting friends in that area and asked the same question, they said to go South until you leave the Metroplex(seriously), then look around...It's all scenic.

I couldn't do this when I was up there, due to it being 100+ in the shade.

The only place in the Metroplex that's pretty is that building that has the Michael Whelan murals on it. Not sure if the Zoo there is still open, but they have some picture perfect areas as well.

Hope this helps.

The thing with photos:
decide if you want the "scenery" IN the photo and thereby, the scenery will be the focus of the photo.
OR, decide if you want your niece/nephew to be the focus of the photo?
It depends also on how your crop or edit your photos.

IF you are just concerned about getting a nice backdrop for the photos, with your niece/nephew in front of the backdrop... then you can do that anywhere outside or inside. Or, in my State, families often to go some hotel to take Christmas photos for their cards... because, the hotels have their Christmas displays and decorations out already. And thus, it provides a nice "backdrop" for photos of their kids.

Even taking a photo with kids, in front of flowers or a nice tree on a nice lawn, can be nice. I did some like that, just in my yard, and then made it black and white, and made the photos close-ups... of my kids faces. It was not a whole body photo. And it turned out really nice.

So, you also need to decide if you want close up photos of them/their faces, or if you want whole body photos, which then needs to be shot from a farther distance and thereby, the "scenery" of the photo shoot, is also prominent in the photo.
