Do you have a recommendation for a good yet affordable children's photo studio that uses props? I love infant photos with props. The best I have seen so far that is also affordable is Kiddie Kandids (the have coupons that make a package with pictures & CD with images affordable). We have used Olan Mills too but like Kiddie Kandids the best between the two since Olan Mills charges much more to get the CD with photos. Does anyone have other recommendations?

They did a great job with my girls, and had some really cute props. And it is nice, because it is digital, they just keep snapping photos, and you have so many to choose from! Good prices too. Good luck!
'Could look into individual photographers ... they tend to advertise in Portland Parent, places like that ... sometimes at birth clinics, there will be business cards ... . They often come to your home, and my general impression is that the smaller the operation, the less interested they are in the overhead cost/effort of keeping the exclusive rights to photos. Sometimes too, individuals are just starting out for themselves and willing to negotiate. But that all probably varies a lot from photographer to photographer. Anyhow, if you have time to call around, it might be worth it.
Portrait Innovations is by far the best photography studio I have used. They're patient, great with kids, and very reasonably priced. You get your pictures in about 15 minutes, and the CD with all the pictures (even the ones you didn't buy) comes with your package. We won't go anywhere else.
I love Picture Innovations at Streets of Tanasbourne. They do a great job, have fun props too. The last time we were there they took 70+ pics that we had to pic from- they take you to a large screen to narrow down your choices. they have always had a 9.99 special that includes lots of pics for one pose and then I have found it fairly reasonable when I want more of the different shots. And the pictures are ready in 30 minutes!

I have found that if you want pictures in a hurry, Kiddie Kandids is the way to go. If you don't mind waiting for them, JC Penny is good. They show you the pictures before you order and they often have coupons in magazines or in the newspaper for 3.99 sheets (you can't beat that!). I am often satisfied with their work, they have a lot of seasonal backdrops and props and you can always bring your own personal items for props. We use Portrait Innovations and LOVE them! They have different backgrounds and props or you can bring your own. You can do as many outfit changes as you want as well. They don't charge you a sitting fee either. The photographers are patient, high energy and great at getting amazing pictures. You can go every quarter and get their special. You get a ton of pictures of one pose for $9.99. Then you can add (if you wish) on to that of other poses. I haven't found a better place. I second Picture Innovations in Tanasbourne. We have used them for two family portraits and they have always turned out great. Their prices are great, $9.99 for a package. And the staff goes above and beyond for getting little ones to cooperate. We managed to get happy pictures of a teething one year old, and a skipped nap two year old. But no one could tell when they saw our portraits. :-)
