I need suggestions for a wedding photographer...but we are on a budget, so finding one is NOT easy. I don't want anything over the top or super fancy. I really just would like someone to snap pictures and add a bit of a proffesional touch to them. Our wedding party is pretty big and I don't want to stick my family or friends with the task of taking pictures because I want them to be in them and enjoy themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions or refrences?
Thanks so much for the suggestions! I need to check all of these out. Our wedding is July 1st of this year. I'm really hoping to spend less than $1000....but people have rolled their eyes at that. I just want a few decent fun pictures.

Congrats on your wedding! You could contact an amateur photographer in the area...many of them are looking to add to their portfolios and can give you a reasonable rate.

My sis-in-law lives in Lubbock and is starting a photography business. Her website is www.tungatephotography.com. Her website does not have all her current work; she did fantastic maternity pictures for me and some newborn shots of my baby but they are not on the website yet. However, she does have sampling of all her work, including a wedding. If you contacted her, I'm sure she could give you more examples of her work if you want it. I'm not sure what her travel fee would be, but she could tell you (they come down this way to visit us occasionally, so depending on when your wedding is she could arrange a trip accordingly). I don't know how much you want to spend, but I think she is very affordable for what most photographers go for, and after the wedding you would get a disc with ALL your pictures to print and do with as you like.
