Phil&Teds Sport Stroller - Doubles Kit

I am currently looking at the Phil&Teds Sport Stroller with the doubles kit as our doubles stroller when my newborn is born in February. I'll have a 21 month old and newborn. I've been sent mixed messages about whether or not you can use a car seat adapter and have a toddler in the back. Right Start told me no, Galt toys told me yes, if you get the right adapter. Has anyone used the Phil&Teds as a double with car seat adapter for Graco SnugRide and with the doubles kit attached?

I own a stroller fitness company and we have many moms who have the Phil & Ted's Sport with the jumpseat attached to the back with the infant seat in the front. Some of the confusion may be that it's a European designed stroller and most European parents don't believe in infant car seat carriers, so it's original design was for the infant to be papoosed in the main part of the stroller with the back down and the jump seat attached to the front. In the last couple of years as they've become more popular in the US they have added the option of an attachment for the jumpseat.

My boys are 15 months apart and we used the car seat in our Phil & Ted's only twice, really you'll find you won't use the car seat as much as you think, it's not necessary. We never even used the adapter the couple times we put the car seat in, it was a little tight for our toddler down below but it worked fine but the baby lying flat with the toddler up top was the best way to go. We got out in our stroller a ton during the newborn stage and it worked out great, plus it's like a little cocoon in there with a wind guard to keep him cozy. Anyway, I LOVE my Phil and Ted's, we researched a lot of strollers and are so happy with our decision.

I have the Phil and Ted's with double for the exact scenerio. Mine are now 13 weeks and two years. I had bought the adapter but, ended up returning it to Right Start as I never used it. I have just been putting my newborn lying down in the back and my older in the front. Trust me...you're not going to be able to be going around with the two of them in there as much as you think! :) Do you have a snap and go for the car seat? That said, I don't see why the adapter won't work. I believe they even sell it on the Phil and Ted's website...

I agree with the poster that said to lay the newborn down, and I also agree with the poster that says you won't be using it this way as often as you'd think! Our kids are about 2 1/2 years apart. Just last week I started using the bottom sling of our Phil & Teds for our 4 1/2 month old (I could have used it earlier, but never got out for a walk until now). It works great. I love how the sling is more rounded than the top seat, her head leans against it and she naps the whole time. I think that the newborn mode is so short-lived that it's not worth the money to try to use a car seat too. Also, I can imagine that would make it pretty bulky. Good luck!

I have a Phil and Ted --never used the car seat adapter. You put the infant directly in the stroller. That was how it was designed. (I absolutely LOVE my stroller btw.)

Here's what Mara has to say at BabyGaga:

Anyway, from what I can tell, you can't have the infant carrier and the toddler in at the same time-- that would be only in single mode unfortunately, but if it makes you feel any better, there's been a lot of negative press about keeping an infant in their carrier for extended periods of time-- with an increased liklihood of sort of spinal deformation (scary!)-- which puts the e3 in good stead as you'll only be able to keep your infant flat on their back when riding w/ a toddler.
