There are times that this does happen however, when was your last normal period? I know we are all high fashioned with the tampons these days but I would try a pad, just the once and see exactly what is appearing. I sometimes feel that when using tampons regularly they block the actual normal bleeding. For some reason I feel that some blood has been left behind. What I used to do myself, and I had the same problem you are speaking of, I would change to a pad for a day, just to make sure everything that needed to come down, came down. Once I did this, I didn't have anymore problems. You can try it, I know your probably saying YUK!! Even just use it while in the house if that is more comfortable for you. Like overnight. Good luck, I honestly don't think there is a problem.

Since I just took my daughter to the ER about this...lol... the Gyno said that normal bleeding can be light, bright or dark in color, and clots can be "small fruit" sized and still be normal, like raisin or grape sized. ( I know I was astonished by this one) She said you really don't need to worry unless the clots are bigger fruit sized, like plums, lemons, etc.
I know it sounds strange but she said she has even seen people have clots up to the size of an orange. (YUK)
Unless there is a large amount of cramping, or a heavy flow that you have to change your pad or tampon more than twice in a hour for 2 consecutive hours... then it is a hormone thing, and you shouldn't worry.
Now that is what the doc told me, but I in no way think that if you are scared or really concerned that you should not contact your own doc. Hope it helps

mine is always like that, i hate it...but if it is diff. for you no harm in calling a dr. they will want to make sure it is not a clot or anything and being safe is better than sorry! good luck.

Mine used to be like that until I started drinking a fem balance tea for the couple of weeks between ovulation and the start of the period. The main active ingredients are red raspberry leaf (a uterine tonic) and chastetree berry aka vitex, which is a hormone balancer.

I think that sounds normal. If you get an excess cramping, seem to be losing a lot of blood, etc - I would seek medical attention though.

Hi D.! I am pregnant right now, but in the past my periods have ranged from dark to bright and usually have clumps. If you are concerned it's definitely worth making an appointment with your gynecologist and asking him/her. It's better to be safe than sorry! Hope this helps and hopefully everything is okay! :-)
