I was in the process of a miscarriage and I had a d&c. That was 37 days ago and I have not started my period yet. The dr. never said when it would start back up, so I'm just wondering about other peoples experiences.

What can I do next?

Hi Jackie~
I had a m/c a couple of years ago and although my period problems were due to a fibroid issue, I still had the emotional problems from it. I finally talked to a good friend who's dad is an OB in the area and she reminded me that even though I am aware that I didn't deliver a baby, my body was not. All my body knew was that I was pregnant one day and then the next, I wasn't. So as for the comment below that you are technically postpartum, that's exactly what it is...only you don't get to bring home a bundle of joy to balance it all out. I say call your OB...that's what they are there for. Since you had the D&C, any variations from the norm should be checked out!

Hi Jackie,
I am 36 and mom of 2 little girls, 6 and 2.
I had a similar experience as you. Approximately 3 years ago.

If I remember right, I took my body a couple of months to regulate itself. You have been through a traumatic experience. YOur body is recovering from a double wammy. Surgery and miscarriage.
It doesnt hurt to call your Dr. and ask questions.
If I were you, I would give the Doc a little jingle before the weekend, explain your concerns, and get his/her opinion on it. The reason I say before the weekend is because, then all your concerns are addressed, questions answered, and you can relax and enjoy the weekend. :)

As I said earlier, I have been through a very similar experience. I had to have a D& C also as a result of not finding a heart beat. My body was showing no signs of miscarriage and I was to much of an emtional wreck to sit and wait for it to happen. If you are a sister in need of a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen, I am here for you!! I know it is a painful heartache to get through. It helps to talk with someone who has been through a similar experience.
Take Care! Feel free to email me. Heidi

I had a D&C for a failed non-thriving pregnancy. I was told not to have sex for two-four weeks. Well I did. After about 40 days I still did not have a period. I went and got a pregnancy test, and sure enough I was prego with twins! I ended up losing one, but alas, my daughter was born months later!! That was my experience.

You are postpartum...even though it wasn't a "complete" pregnancy, because you ended up with a surgical intervention you will have the same "recovery" time as after birth. 4-6wks...possibly longer before you see your period
