People with Catholic School Experiences?

Hello everyone! I am looking into catholic schools for my soon to be kindergartner. She is smart, inquisitive and very interested in reading already. She is very outgoing and friendly and makes friends easily. I have no doubt she will socially thrive almost anywhere, but I want her to be challenged in her future school but not grow to hate education (if its too much too soon...some start them in K with too much homework I think).

SO I have gone on a few tours and I, for very different reasons, like Holy Spirit and St. Gregory the Great. I also didn't NOT like St. Peter Prince. These seem like our three options based on location and the teachers we met and the curriculum (for now and for later on in the higher grades). (I attend St. Matthews but find it impersonal and very huge so it wasn't an option for us even though its our parish.)

Does anyone have experiences at these schools or some kind of first hand knowledge of them? Reviews online are mixed for every school it seems and I have always had great experiences with the help from parents here. I was hoping a few parents would be able to help me with learning more about the schools! You only learn so much by reviewing the websites, materials and touring the schools.

My biggest fear is getting into a program and later on at some point having to leave her her wanting to go to public high school later and realizing she's behind academically. I want to be sure she is learning enough and thriving so that she is ready for high school and eventually college.

I am looking forward to hearing from anyone who has something to add (good or bad) about these schools!!!

What can I do next?

Hi Christina,
St. Matthews Catholic School is a wonderful catholic school. My son is in Kinder and he is doing very well. They have great academic program. We interviewed numerous schools before making the decision to attend here. We found St. Matthews to be balanced very well academically and spiritually. I have been very impressed with the parent involvement. The families here are all very close. I hope this helps.

Blessings,
M.

Both my son and daughter attended St Gregory. My daughter was there from k-8th, my son was prek-8th also. They did learn alot and went on to succeed in high school. They do require parent participation however, but overall it was a good school. I have also heard negative things, but never had any complaints when my kids attended. Hope this helps.

We do not have our kids in Catholic School, since we have 3 kids and it is not economically feasible for us at this time. Yet, we have done all our sports through CYO and we have some close friends whose kids attend Holy Spirit. I have never heard one "ill" word about the school, and my friends, and their children are always talking great things about it & the teachers. As an educator myself, I have also looked into it and if I had the resources would send my kids there myself. GO HOLY SPIRIT!!!!

HI C.,
All three of my kids went to St Lukes (10 & Callaghan). The last one graduated 2 years ago from there. St Lukes starts with pre-K & goes all the way to 8th grade. They even have a daycare for 3 yr olds. The phone number is ###-###-####.
