People Can Be AWESOME :)

So have you ever had an experience like this?

This past week there's been a lot of construction work on the streets in my neighborhood. My son (age 4) loves diggers, etc. The workers were cutting up the street and putting in re-bar to prep for concrete. Of course, we watched them. Then we watched again when they poured the concrete. He loved it. The manager of the group let him press the button that controlled the up-down of the pouring spout! And then they let him use the smoother to make the concrete smooth (of course, they had to fix his "smoothing" LOL). And THEN when they were done, the group manager asked me what my son's initials were and drew them into the corner.

Wow, just wow :)

What are your awesome people moments?

On my birthday, I went through the Starbucks drive through to order a coffee. When I got to the window, I tried to pay. But the cashier said that the guy in front of my had already paid for my coffee. He left a message to me that said "pay it forward".

I didn't know the guy, he didn't know me or that it was my birthday, and the guy left without saying anything.

That was probably the nicest "birthday" present ever!

My husband sells Aflac and one of his clients is a mechanic/tire shop. The owner loves him since my hubby is always helping his employees with getting paid on their claims. Hubby went in just today and the owner asked him if he was due for an oil change and he was, he told hubby he will change is oil for free from now on, just to bring it by! Awesome!!!

My mom took my sister to Universal Studios to see Michael Landon and the crew for LIttle house on the prairie. My sister was about 12 and had several surgeries trying to remove a malignant brain tumor with no luck. She was wheel chair bound but loved Little house on the prairie and was having a great time getting autographs from the stars. While in line for one of the rides a lady from Ireland started chatting with my mom and my sister. A few weeks later my mom received 2 roundtrip ticket to Ireland. She and my sis flew there and stayed for an entire month and had a wonderful time.

OK this isn't as awesome as yours but one time we were at a burger joint and one of the workers came by and gave my son a free ice cream shake for "being so cute". There were other kids in there around the same age as my son (1.5 years old) so my hubby and I were super proud. lol.

My friend lost a 20 dollar bill in Walmart and at this time in her life she was totally broke and that 20 was all she had to feed her kids, she was going to buy 20 dollars worth of food and pray that it made it 2 weeks. But she lost it. Just to check (which she highly doubted) she went to lost and found. SOMEBODY RETURNED IT!...20 dollars..........! I had no idea people returned money unless it was in a wallet.

I come across stories like this often. My husband and I and many people we come across try hard to be good people and will bend over backwards for friends and pass nice ness along to strangers.

I love your post! Those workers were so sweet to your son!

Our local coffee shop is full of amazing people. One day, the manager asked my kids (at the time age 6 and almost 3) if they wanted to help her and put aprons on them and gave them order pads and they went with her to take orders. She let my kids bring napkins and such to the tables and all the patrons gave them quarters for tips! All those people absolutely made my kids day........and mine too!

You are right, people can be so AWESOME!!!!

Ours was at Disney World.
It was our daughters first ever trip there and we were getting on the Priates of the caribean ride. We parked the stroller in the stroller parking and went to get in line. When we came back we were going to another ride right there so we were just going to walk by the stroller parking to the next line and I noticed something all over our stroller. I was kind of mad at first, I thought someone put trash on my stroller.
When we went over to look it was a strip of stickers wrapped all over the stroller with a certificate stating that our little one was "Priate Princess of the Day" inside the stroller was a pirate princess minnie hat, tattoos, jewels, a sword and hook playset, stickers, and bracelets. It was so exciting. We went up to the stroller attendant to ask who we could thank, but she said it was just a secret thing and that she just hoped we enjoyed our visit.

It made our disney trip that much more magical. It was fantastic! Our two year old has LOVED pirates since she learned what they were and she still constantly plays with her telescope, hook, and hat. :)

LAst Thanksgiving I was in line at the grocery store. The lady in front of me was counting change, but I was really not paying attention. She didn't have enough by about $10. Her order was maybe $25. She told her son they would have to put the turkey breast back. It was so sad.
Before I could say anything the customer at the next register whipped out her VIsa, swiped it for the family and wished them a Happy Thanksgiving.

I took my 10 year old son out to Longhorns last Friday for dinner and when I asked for the check someone already paid for it. The person that paid had no idea that this was the first time in months that I have had a chance to spend alone time with my oldest so it was kind of a special night for us.
People really are awesome!!

Just today the 'MobileVet' came to my house to fix my dog (ear infection), he was the nicest man, reasonable prices and he allowed me to post date my checks and divide the bill up how ever many times we needed...which was a life savor given our current monthly *very strict* budget.

Still smilling and shocked about what a blessing that nice man was....not just for us but for lots of people I am sure, he said he has been doing business like this for 20+ years! I am so grateful and I have a new vet and will be telling everyone about him too!

* Went thru the whole phonebook...only vet in town who does payment arrangments!

My mom works at a retail outlet type of store and from time to time she tells me about the awesome people who find things but do not keep them for themselves. (I am so glad there are people who don't follow through on the saying.... finders keepers losers weepers.) I don't live by this motto either.

The most recent story (about 2 months ago) was about how a man and his son were shopping and they came up to my mom and the dad said, "I found a wallet and there's quite a bit of money in it, too." My mom thanked the man and guessed she would see maybe $50 in the wallet. Turns out that there was a bit over $400 in there! The bad part... there was no ID in the wallet! She gave it to her manager to handle it from there. I'll have to ask her if someone ever called to describe the wallet. They donate it to UNICEF if the person doesn't call after awhile. (But if there's an ID they call the person to tell them.) I'm guessing someone didn't call because they probably highly doubted someone would turn in their wallet with that amount of cash in it.
My mom recently had a woman call where the retail store and explain that she lost something and my mom found it in the backroom. (Someone had turned it in.) I can't remember what she lost but my mom did a nice thing. She told the woman that she would drop it off at her house since she lived in the same town. (However, it wasn't like it was on the next block. It was on the other side of town.) The customer was so appreciative that my mom did that for her.

Recently my aunt took off her sunglasses at a riverwalk/fountain area. We walked around for over an hour and a half and then she realized she didn't have her sunglasses. We back tracked and couldn't find the sunglasses. She sat down near the fountain and pretty much had given up on finding them. I just happened to look over her head and there they were on a cement wall just sitting there. So everyone who saw them had just left them alone since they didn't belong to them. The other day, my kids and I did the samething but with a football.... we saw a brand new football left at the park (no one else there) but we left it there since it wasn't ours and there was no where to turn it in. I hope the owners were able to come back and get it.

I don't have a super awesome story, but the most awesome person I know is the handyman at my apartment. He does things for me that he wouldn't have to do as they aren't in his job description. He's an older guy and he sees that I'm a single mom who lives alone and has terrible home depot skills. I was trying to hang a coat rack/hanger (idk what you call it, the hooks that you can hang your coats on) I asked him if it had to be in a stud in the wall. He came and did it for me. One time he put my license plates on my car for me when I was having an issue with the wing nuts. I'm just very grateful b/c I obviously don't know what I'm doing and he doesn't have to do those things for me. I'd call him awesome!
