Peeing More than Normal

for about the past week my son (4) has been going pee frequently. My husband is a diabetic so we have checked his blood sugars and they have been normal so diabetes isn't a concern. I dont know if this is a stage, he doesnt go a lot when he does this, he stays dry at night. I mean he will go like 10 times in an hour at times but then goes for a while without going. He doesnt say it hurts or anything. Is this just a fascination with peeing that perhaps he likes to go? Have any of you gone through this with little boys. On a side note he has been potty trained for 2 years now.....

What can I do next?

It might be the facination but it could also be the start of a urinary track infection. I'd get him checked if it continues. They can happen without any pain or itching. Also, give him yogurt. I heard it helps with infections. Good luck!!!

The only thing I can think of is a UTI or Bladder infection. Take him to the doc.

YES!! I went through this last year. I had my son checked too as he had reflux in his kidneys at birth so I was freaked. IT is a phase, if you have ruled it all out medically, it is a phase. Go with it, don't pay any attention to it. My son's teacher even said something about it and that really worried me. They ran urine tests and all of that. I gave it a month or so and he stopped, went back to the norm. It was odd as pee came out every time he went in, not much but before bed he would go three or four times an pee came out!
I have no idea why they do it, maybe because I made mention of it and it was for attention or maybe it is just something they do!! :) Who knows but it is normal....

Here is another helpful tip if you or your child think you may be getting a UTI..

Blueberry juice is actually better for them than cranberry juice. The concentration of whatever it is in Cranberry juice that is supposed to help so much is even stronger in blueberry juice. It is more expensive ($5-$8 a jug) but make sure you get the 100% blueberry juice, not mixed with other juices.

My husband (a chiropractor) told me of this and I love blueberries anyway, then when my 3 yr old complained for the first time that it hurt when she peed after a bath with a new strawberry scented shampoo, I went out and get her bb juice and she didn't cry about the burning when she peed again.

Just a tip for all.. :)

I went through this with my daughter a couple months ago. She would stay dry at night, but peed all day. I wondered if it was a UTI, but she didn't complain about it hurting, they are supposed to hurt. I finally took her to the doctor and it was a UTI. I advise you to see a doctor, don't wait too long and suffer with constant potty brakes for a while like I did! Plus, better to get it cleared up as soon as possible. Good luck.

Almost sounds like he may have a UTI. I get them all the time and and they dont always hurt, you just potty more then normal. Probably wouldnt hurt to have him tested.

I had the same issue with my little boy, went to the doctor, nothing was wrong, and he said it didn't hurt. I came to find out that he had an accident at preschool, and he had been so mortified (even though they said they didn't make it a big deal, and didn't even think any of the other kids knew), we think he started to go so often to ensure that another accident would be avoided. It was just a phase for him to, but maybe you're little guy went through something similar? Good luck!
