Hi All,

I am a first time would-be mom who is 27 weeks pregnant. I am looking for good pediatricians in the Ashburn/Herndon/Reston areas? Would greatly appreciate if you could recommend somebody? Also, do pediatric groups charge when you call after business hours? Do we get to choose which doctor we would like to see in the group or is there no choice provided?

Thanks.

What can I do next?

First, Congratualtions!!! We go to the Virginia Pediatrics Group in Fairfax and they also have an office in Herndon. We have been with them since my son was born three years ago and have been very pleased with them. Here is the link to the website.

They have a nurse line you can call at night and I never got charged for that. Also, we always book our scheduled appointments with the same Dr. but if we need to go because my son is sick we will take whomever is available, they are all great!
Good Luck!!

We go to Farrell Pediatrics in South Riding, but they have a Reston office (in fact, that is where the practice started decades ago by the senior Dr. Farrell). His son John Farrell now runs the practice but is typically in the South Riding practice. We REALLY like him and all the docs there (all very personable), although I have never been to the Reston practice...but it's at least worth looking into. The number for the South Riding practice is ###-###-####. You can give them a call for more info.

Hi don't live in your area but I've found mine/my children's docs through google & the phone book. I ask a list of questions & whoever I like the most I go to! If I don't like that doc, then next time I go see the next doc who sounded good & stick with the one who is patient & kind & who doesn't rush us. Also as far as ped groups/calling after hours, it depends on that docs office but most in my experience charge more for after hours care, but your in a complete different area then me so could depend on the docs there. My children go to a center with 3 ped's & the secretary always tries to stick us with any available doc the day of the appointment, but my children do good with only one ped in particular & I request him ahead of time when I'm making the appointment. If they say he's not available but so & so is I say that's OK I'll take doctor so & so's next available appointment, I don't wish to have any other doc. Just be nice but tough about it, I've had to walk out & re-make the appointment twice when I arrived & they've stuck us with one of the docs my children hate even tho I requested a certain ped.
Well sorry I couldn't be of more help, hope you find the right one for you! :)
