Hi I am about to be a first time mom and am starting my search for a good pediatrician in San Francisco. It is important to me to find a pediatrician who is sensitive to the issues surrounding vaccinations and the possible effects they could have on infants and children.

I was very happy with Dr. Michael Treece at St. Lukes. They take Medical as well as other insurance so the only drawback is that it can be busy in there. But I was always able to be seen within a day or 2 and he is great about responding to any questions via email within hours - very nice for a nervous first time mom!
I love my pediatrician! Dr. Colleen Halloran - she is in the Stonestown Medical Building. The number is ###-###-####. Finding a pediatrician is very personal, so you'll just have to go interview a few to find the right fit. I interviewed Dr. Halloran when I was 7 months pregnant with my first child. We now have two boys, and continue to be very happy with our choice.
My daughters currently see, Dr. Nayana Anne. She's in the same office building as Dr. Schwanke. She is considerate, knowledgable, and supportive of spaced out vaccinations and breastfeeding.
My first daughter went to Dr. Irina Khidekel. We love her too. The only reason we changed was because she was across town and it became too cumbersome (and time consuming) to get there with two children. I highly recommend both ladies.
Dr Schwanke is great-- really respectful about varying views on vaccinations. He spends a lot of time with each patient (which means you have to wait sometimes) but it's nice when you have questions or concerns.
Hello, someone already mentioned Pediatric Alternatives in Mill Valley. I take my kids there and couldn't be happier! Not only do they provide excellent care for the kids, they also give many educational seminars and workshops for the parents (for example, about vaccinations). It's worth the drive and the annual fee! Good luck.
We lived in the City when my son was born and we saw Dr. Diana Tang-Duffy. She was right near CPMC. We loved her. She has such a kind and caring demeanor and she always listened to your concerns and she called back in a timely fashion. We moved to Alameda nad found another good Peds group, but I would definitely go back to Dr. Tang is we moved back to the city. She also came highly recommended by my PCP.
Hi-I highly recommend Getzwell Pediatrics. Dr. Julia Getzelman is amazing and has a holistic approach to medicine. Here is the website:http://getzwell.com
The only downfall is that they don't take insurance but it is the only practice like this that I have found in SF. I have a 3 mo. old boy and have been extremely happy with the care. Good luck!
Definitely go see Dr, Julia Getzelman at Getzwell Pediatrics for an interview (see the website www.getzwell.com). She offers individualized care to her patients, is thoughtful, listens carefully to parents and takes her time in-office -- you will never feel rushed. She's knowledgeable and flexible about vaccinations and will offer you information on pros / cons / scheduling / delaying / etc. and will respect the decision you make.
What I find most important about Dr. Getzelman is that she really trusts a mom's intuition and is never condescending (like some docs are when they say "everything is fine" when you know it isn't or by giving you a look as if to say, "you're being a neurotic mother" - that's so frustrating!) When my daughter was two months old, Dr. Getzelman saved her life by jumping to action when I knew something was really wrong and our first pediatrician would not do a thing.

Here is a web site to the best practice on the planet. They are a short drive to Mill Valley. I know people who commute from the East Bay and beyond to take their kids here. Check it out.
