This is our 3rd move in 6 months, and we have to pick a new pediatrician AGAIN. I really liked the one in Arizona with kid friendly rooms, staff, and doctors. Our doctor even carried a Scooby Doo medical bag! The biggest thing to me is atmosphere as my toddler HATES doctors in general, and competance of the doctor. Please recommend.
Oh, yeah, we are in Taylorsville, but I don't mind a little drive for the right office.
I didn't notice any recommendations in the West Jordan area and it's not too far from Taylorsville, so I thought I'd give you mine... Dr. Kevin Lash at South Point Pediatrics (part of Wasatch Pediatrics) at 1300 W and 9000 S. My favorite thing about him is that he remembers his patients! And he talks TO them, not just to the parents. My kids LOVE going to see him, even if they know they'll get a "pinch" (a shot). We've also seen other doctors in the practice and have no complaints about them or the staff. Although the wait time can be long if you get an afternoon appointment.

Hi S.,
I know you have already had a bunch of recommendations, but we go to Dr. James Peterson at the Foothill Family Clinic he is the best! I have never had to wait while in his office he usually stays right on schedule he is really good with kids and very knowledgable. If you call with questions or concerns he calls you back on the same day. He is my OBGYN as well (I don't know if you have already found one) he delivered my son and he did a really good job very attentive and makes you feel comfortable (this was my first male doctor and I was very nervous!)
Anyway, welcome to Utah and good luck finding a pediatrician!

I love my pediatrician at intermountain medical center, Dr. Lynch. The rooms are not super kid friendly but she is an amazing doctor and so good with kids. She really gets to know you, and genuinely cares.

I love, love, love my pediatrician and his entire practice. I have seen just about every doctor there when they have been covering for my doctor and they are all fantastic. Two of them were chief residents and they are all extremely knowledgeable and good with children. The clinic is clean, they schedule sick & healthy children at different times and they are extremely prompt. I have 3 children 4 & under and I've never waited more than 5 minutes to see a doctor. The clinic is Holladay Pediatrics - phone ####-###-####. It is located on 4500 South at about 2100 or 2200 East. You really can't go wrong with any of their doctors. It just kind of depends on your personality. If you want someone who is really entertaining with your kid, try Dr. Ferreira or Dr. Witt. Dr. Linford is a woman and is very gentle & has a good way with kids. Dr. Briesacher isn't going to put on a clown suit to entertain your kids, but he's brilliant and has a very mellow & pleasant way about him that puts kids at ease. I see him, by the way, and love his straight-forward approach. Everyone wants different things & they have a variety of personalities - but all very competent.

Hi- I was a pharmaceutical rep who worked with a lot of pediatric doctors around the valley. I think I have a good sense of doctors I would feel comfortable bringing my children to in many areas of the state. Where are you located? We take our chiildren to Dr. Bryan Nelson at the Foothill Family Clinic South (3000 East and about 6500 south). He is a family practice doctor who only sees peds. He was recommended by our physician who takes his children to Dr. Nelson. He has a great way with children and with moms. good luck, feel free to send me a message if you want more info on doctors in other areas (click on name to send personal message). T.

I don't know what area you are in. We use Dr. Rachel Baar in the SugarHouse area. Her office is in Intermountain Memorial Healthcare Clinic. There are several other offices in with her office. It does look like a doctor's office. But Rachel is a really great pediatrician. She doesn't wear a white coat or anything. She is really relaxed and friendly. My stranger-anxious 11 month old loves her.
If you are in the Bountiful area, we went a pediatrician up there named Dr. Hildebrand. I don't remember her first name, maybe Jill. That office is really cool. It's painted with bright colors and murals on the wall. We only went once as we only lived there for a few months, but both of my girls were comfortable in that office.

Chiming in to second (or third!) the recommendation for Willow Creek Pediatrics, 7138 S. 2000 E., SLC, ###-###-####. My kids' primary doctor is Joe Jopling, but we've also seen Dr. O'Mara and Dr. Memmot and have been very impressed. The practice has limited office hours on the weekends, too, so you don't have to go to the ER if a kid happens to get an ear infection over the weekend. Love them!

Cottonwood Pediatrics has some great ones. They are hard to get into, but just call and find out. ###-###-####. The ones I like are Brogoli and Bean. If they're full ask the nurse for a recommendation. I don't like all of them, but most are great.

I don't see where you have included where you live, but I have a Pediatrician that I absolutely love in Sandy, UT. His rooms are painted so cute, each room is painted in a different theme. Dr. Jim Memmott is so gentle and warm, even my boys love him and he gives them shots! He also will make sure he gives you all the time you need with him. I have been going there since my 4 year old was born. All my friends have taken their kids to him also. The place is called Willow Creek Pediatrics ###-###-####.

Dr. Michael Johnson (and his partner Dr. Cox) of Families First Pediatrics located near 1300 W. and 10400 S. We've used them for 5 years now and I was recommended them by two nurses who worked at Cottonwood Hospital in the newborn nursery. I have really been impressed with them. They are upbeat and friendly, never make me feel stupid for calling with simple questions even after hours, and are easy to get appointments with. They have a great staff and each room has a different theme from cars to dinosaurs to princesses etc. just as you said you like. Their phone number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 8 month old, and I have always taken my girls to Willow Creek Pediatric. It is on Highland Drive and about 7200 South. Our regular Doctor is Dr. Jim Memmott and he is wonderful. I've seen a couple of the other doctors at times and they are all terrific. The waiting area is large and open with a tv and aquarium. The exam rooms are all painted with different scenes: a jungle room, a woodland room, etc. My 2 1/2 year old is always very calm about going to the doctor. Once, instead of crying after a shot, my 2 year old thanked the nurse. Good Luck.

I have a newborn son and interviewed several doctors before finding Dr Tawnya Jackson at the Sandy Clinic by Alta View Hospital. Although the atmosphere isn't perfect, the staff certainly is! She even gained the trust of my 3 year old step daughter from the get go... There are no scooby doo medical bags but she relates to the kids in a way that has my daughter excited for her next checkup! Good Luck to you!

We recenlty moved to the area to and were recommended to a great doctor. Dr. Lindgren at the Memorial Clinic in SugarHouse. He was really great with my daughter. He sat and talked with me and just observed her for quite a while before he even approached her, and when he did approach her, he did it in such a gradual, gentle manner and she responded very well. Before Dr. Lindgren we were in a situation where we didn't get to see the same docotor every visit, but Dr. Lindgren is better than all the others I saw. Just a tip-- He's a very popular doctor (probably because he's so good) so call to schedule your appointments as far in advance as you can. Good Luck!

You've already received a ton of recommendations, but just wanted to second Dr. James Peterson at Foothill Family, he's my and hubby's GP, and he's wonderful. Our son sees Dr. Jesse Fox at Bryner Clinic which is on about 1st south and 5th east downtown SLC. He was recommended to us by several people when our son was born, and we saw him until 4 months, when we switched insurance. I literally cried when we found out we couldn't see Dr. Fox any more (didn't take our new insurance.) We went through a string of simply AWFUL doctors, and we just switched back to IHC and are back with Dr. Fox and loving it. My son has special needs, and he is so good with him.

I don't know if you want to drive this far, but I love my pediatrician. Her name is Shellie Ring and she is at Willowcreek Pediatrics about 2000 E 7200 S, in Cottonwood Heights. She is so good with kids, fun and friendly, and her three examination rooms have huge murals on the walls. One has an under-the-sea theme with a big sailing ship. Another is a woodland creatures having story time. My daughter loves spending the wait looking at the pictures and naming all the animals.

I'm going to assume you are in the Salt Lake area, since this showed up on my daily digest. (Though I'm not positive, since I'm still not sure how this site works!)
If you are in the Salt Lake Valley, we LOVE our pediatrician!! I don't know that she's taking new patients right now, but the Southwest Children's Clinic (where she's at) is full of fabulous doctors! The phone number is ###-###-####. We've seen every doctor there and they're all great!
