We love all the Drs at Pediatric Healtcare Associates. We have seen Dr Frank but we are primarily with Dr Sutton. The whole practice is wonderful!
I just moved to McKinney, TX and am in need of a pediatrician for my 10 month old. I'm debating between Dr Catherine Frank at Pediatric Healthcare Association or one of the doctors at All About Children. My previous pediatrician was on the board of the AAP. He gave me all the facts, explained everything thoroughly, was very compassionate, was well connected to the local children's hospital, etc. I'm looking for a similar doctor. Thought on either of these? Thanks in advance!
OMG, thank you so much for your responses! It makes me sick to my stomach to think about some of the responses. I greatly, greatly appreciate your help! Thank you!

I don't know about Peds in McKinney but I will tell you that if you ever need to take your little one to urgen care go to the Acute Kids Care in McKinney. www.AcuteKidsCare.com
They are so nice and it was such an easy process to get in and out of their with sick kids. For a busy Sunday afternoon we were in and out in about 60 mins which is not bad considering it was a packed lobby and more coming in. The staff is so nice, they serve refreshments to the kids, fax your prescription ahead of time. It was just an overall positive experience.
Good luck!
Dr. Catherine Frank has been wonderful for us. She caught both an overlooked problem on my son that would have required surgery had it not been found in time, and a misdiagnosis on my next door neighbor's daughter. Can't say enough good about her - she knows her stuff.
i had a horrible experience with dr smith at all about childrens (the famale dr) my daughter was having high blood sugars, dr smith refused to send us to a pediatric endocrinologist so we had to switch pediatricians to get the refferal we needed. turns out my daughter is hyperglycemic and we see the endo at childrens every month now because of her high blood sugars. the other doctors in that practice might be wonderful but she was mean had no bedside manner and had me in tears.
here it is, short and sweet:
AACP - great for wells, great for after-hours callbacks, great nurses, separate sick/well waiting areas
Dr. Burton - good dr., don't get to see him a lot unless it's your well visit
Dr. Smith - rude, hurries you, NOT personable, prone to misdiagnose
Tara (PA) - NOT knowledgeable
Dr. Lemeshev - very nice, very personable, knows her stuff, a mom of a little one so is empathetic
Whatever you do, do not use All About Children! They are absolutely horrible, I used them for the first year of my daughters life and have nothing but horror stories to share. I even had a friend who took their son there and because of a misdiagnosis on Dr.Burton's part their son almost died. Take a look at some of the reviews for this office:

There are a few people who think highly of the practice, but the negative far out weights the positive.
We use Dr. Suzanne Dugopowski at ABC Pediatrics and really enjoy her practice. Good luck in making your decision, I know it is a tough one.
I'm all about Pediatric Healthcare...Our main Dr. is Nicole Sutton but we've seen all of them and they are ALL wonderful! Good luck I know how hard it is to find a pediatrician.....
I just moved to TX and was referred to Dr. Paul Reyes and Jeff Alvis at Stonebridge Peds and LOVE THEM! They actually were just voted Top Pediatricians in McKinney. I have a special needs little boy and my 10 month old little girl has had a struggle of a lot of things her first year and they have been so on top of all my kids conditions! Good luck with whomever you choose for your little one!
STAY AWAY FROM All About Children, READ THE REVIEWS the other mom posted... They actually hired a PR person (Dr. Burton's mom, of all people... no joke) to FIX the issues they were facing with dissatisfied customers.
Their nurses and the receptionists GOSSIP about patients when they've left... Assistants make diagnoses and they aren't even RNs... I can't even get into it, it angers me so much, I become incoherent. I am SICK in my heart for the hell they put us through, and all the other moms I have met since then who went through troubles because of these people.
Just stay away. You're getting a lot of good referrals to other docs - go see one of them. Just stay away from Burton's practice.
My daughter has been seeing Dr. Frank since she was 6 (she's 14 now!) and we LOVE her. It took me a long time to find a doc I trusted as much as I trust her. She also has been a life savor as my daughter has grown into a teen. If you are looking for a long term doc for your daughter who will keep up with everything current going on then Dr. Frank is your Doc! Good Luck!
Ditto on NOT going to All About Children. We saw them originally, but thankfully switched to Pediatric Healthcare Associates. DS sees Dr. Kessinger there, but we love that practice all around! GL!
Hi- You may also want to look at ABC Pediatrics off of Virginia Parkway. Dr. Suzanne Dugopalski is WONDERFUL. They offer same day appts. with little or no wait time.
She is very informative and will spend as much time as needed if you have any questions at all. I have referred friends of little ones to her and they all just love her. I looked at both of the ones you are deciding between and am so happy that I found Dr. Suzanne. She also has weekend appts. which is great when your little one gets sick at 10:00 pm on a Friday night - which has happend to us on a few occasions. Good Luck.
The way you should ALWAYS look for a pediatrician is by writing out your questions and go to a meet the doctor night and see what you think. AAC is very appealing to the eyes they are a busy practise but only busy practises are busy due to wanting to see those doctors. You have to stand in line for the good ones. same with Obstetricans. One of the things to consider is family - this is what a pediatrician should think about and what is best practise for your baby. AACP has had some terrible reviews but they are one of the only practices that DO EMPLOY Nurses as well as MA's most others are affraid to pay out the money. They have ALWAYS had a lactation consultant that can help you due to breast milk being not only the best food for the baby but also the best immunity to be given to your baby. A family Practise Yes they are and very proud of it. They care for their patients like family and My advise as to all parents seeking out a pediatrician is GO AND MEET and greet - see what you think. Ask about the reviews you have read. They also have a well and sick side and their staff are very dedicated!. They have had some rough times and changed to bigger practise which has an effect on the work load but thay have always been striving for the best!. THat is what I think.
I have heard good things about all the doctors suggested to you. There is a WONDERFUL doctor in downtown McKinney named Dr. Chartrand. He supports holistic health as well as traditional practice. He is very family oriented. http://www.harmonyfamilyhealth.com/ Check out his website. That's how I found him.
Good luck!
Of course, you have to listen to the negative reviews... but, I just have to say that I LOVE All About Children and especially Dr. Burton... not so keen on the female doctor, can't remember her name right now. I've been there for 2 years with both of my children and they have been fantastic. I've never had any of the issues that other reviewers have had. The only issue at all would be that they are very busy, but they have never failed to get me in for a sick appt the day I called. Almost every mom in my playgroup uses them as well, and I have never heard a complaint. They have meet the doctor nights, so I highly recommend that you meet a few doctors before you make a choice.
