I would advice you to Dr. Sweet in midlothian she is definitely a sweet person, I have taken my kids there 7yr old and 13 month to her office for over a year now and never had any problems with her.
Hello Ladies,
I need help finding a new pediatrician. I live in Midlothian. I was going to a dr. in Mansfield that I was pretty happy with until today. I had the most awful experience with my current pediatrician today. He told me I was stupid for not getting my son the MMR shot. I ended up getting it for him the shot after I was yelled at by the Dr. I left the office bawling. I know this is a touchy subject, obviously for Dr's too. I just don't feel like I should be made to feel like a bad parent when I just want the best for my son. BTW, he told me he did not want my son in his practice and that he would be happy to give me other pediatricians names.
Thanks so much for all of your responses. I met with Dr. Sweet today. She was wonderful! She took the time to meet and talk with us about our concerns. I made my son's 18 month appointment with her. I am so thankful that I found someone close to home! Thanks ladies, now I don't have to go back to my old pedi!

I cannot imagine how I would of reacted being put in your situation. My daughter is 18 months old and we use DR. Mooreland in Midlothian. HE is wodnerful. Hw is at the Baylor clinic there in Midlothian. His # is ###-###-####.I could not aks for a better doctor. He is so good with her and I both. He is one that uses charts but does not go off of that . He has children of his own and alot of times he makes me feel more comfortable with a situation when he says (well with one of my children we did this..) I have been in his office before bawling saying that I knew something was wrong with my daughter I jsut had no idea what is was . SHe was running fever then it would go away and then come back. Very fussy jsut not herself. He said I just had a nervous brake down in the office. He basically said we woudl not leave till he figured out what was wrong. Being a person that did not see her daily he said she looked ok but he took my word. Ended up doing a steph test to rule it out and it came back positive.. Please give him a try you won't be disappointed.. Good luck. No matter who you chose just make sure they listen to you. You are the mom and deep down you know what is right for your child.
Our entire family goes to Walnut Grove Family Health Center. We've been going for about four years and I have always been happy there. I have an almost 2 year old who has been seen there since she was born as well as a six year old. My husband and I also see the doctors there - Dr Ruby is our primary but everyone that we've seen has been great. Here is their contact info:

Good luck with whatever you decide!
Kim Sweet! She is a pedi there in the area, she is my pastor's wife and she is AMAZING! She is a really great review here on Mamasource, there were tons of moms raving about her care. I would go on the pedi section and see if you see here name, since you are in her area it will prob pull her up close to you.
Dr. Shirley Joslin at the Baylor Family Medical clinic is wonderful and all the staff at that office are great! Good Luck
Dr. Kim Sweet in Midlothian. We just started seeing him on my son's 18 mo checkup. Loved her. And, she has 2 boys (which, I think is important if you have an accident prone boy...). I would definitely not take my child to anyone that bully of a pedi would recommend. Good luck and God Bless!
Hi Nicole,
This is more of words of encouragement.
You are the one that protects your child. Looks like you have some good doctor choices. I will probably look into them eventually. My doctor has been gracious with us not doing vaccinations. But he did say in a kind way that there will come a time that he won't be able to "serve" us. I thanked him for what he has done for all of us. He did state that I was one in a many moms who have done there homework and has become very knowledgeable in the vaccination controversy. I have two websites for you to look at if you like. Please email me and I will give them to you. This website is pretty cool... www.knowthecause.com If you have Direct TV he is ch 376 at 9:30am.
The other website is http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/0...
Basically it is www.mercola.com You have to sign up to receive his vaccination info from time to time. It is free.
Blessings
Melissa
I have used Dr. Issa 972/274-2222 for the last 12 years. I have two daughters and they both love her. She is in Lancaster and is wonderful with her patients. I have moved away and still make the drive which is 1 hour away. But I won't even consider finding a closer pediatrician!!!
Shirley Joslin. She is wonderful. Good luck.
Dear N., sounds like that Doctor was a real A-hole. There is a great article in the March 2nd Newsweek about vaccines and particularly the MMR one that would make any good parent apprehensive about giving that vaccine. We take our son to Dr. Leon who is partnered with two DOs Doctors Hays and Linh Doan-Pham. ###-###-####. They still are very conventional but last I checked, when my son was getting his vaccines, they were at least not cheap using the mercury-free individual doses instead of the cheaper bulk vaccines that contain the mercury preservative. You can get a list of pharmacuetical company names and vaccines that do and don't contain mercury by googling. Good luck and stay strong. It is not only your right to question it is your duty as a good parent to challenge and investigate. Doctors don't know everything and have a history with many dark chapters.
I am so sorry to hear that your pediatrician treated you that way. No respectable dr. should ever make their patients feel stupid or make them feel like they have made a bad decision regarding their child. I have a 5 month old and our pediatrician is Dr. Shirley Joslin. She is at the Baylor Medical Center in Midlothian. I had some concerns about the Dtap vaccination after my sister had a serious reaction (grand mal seizure) after receiving the vaccination a few years ago, and from what I've read online, your child is more at risk of having a reaction if someone in your family has. Anyway, long story short, Dr. Joslin in no way pressured me to get the vaccination, she told me if I was not comfortable having my daughter vaccinated, then I didn't have to. I know a lot of Dr's probably would have made me feel dumb for questioning it, but Dr. Joslin didn't and she even went into detail about the difference between the Dtap and the DTP and she really put my mind at ease. I would recommend her or Dr. Moreland as they are both wonderful, caring doctors.
