I'm looking for a pediatrician in the Homewood/Flossmoor area. My doctor recommended the Child Life group at Ingall's. Anybody have any feedback about that group or another great pediatrician in the area?

My doctor recommended Child Life to us too. We have absolutely no regrets. We see Dr. Roome for our regular check ups. My kids have also seen Dr. Selig and Dr. Townsend when they were sick. We have been very happy with them.
They are actually located in Flossmoor on Governors Highway in the Ingalls building.
Congratulations!
I would like to second (or third) the Child Life group at Ingall's. Dr. Dorsey is the best. I always get his last appointment of the day, and I bring toys for my daughter to play with and a snack because I know it will be a wait. But once he gets to you, it is like you are his only patient and you get the best care! When my daughter had pneumonia a few weeks ago and a dangerously high fever, he took care of her right away, and even managed to calm down this nervous, upset, first time mom! The nurses there are the best, too! Good luck on your search!

Hi D.,
I love my Pediatrician and in fact my daughter loves going to see her as well. WE go to Dr. Denice Cook she is in the Family Christian Center next to Ingall's Hosp in Harvey. I am a pediatric nurse and am very picky when it comes to Dr.'s and Dr. Cook is wonderful as well as her partner Dr. Wright. C. E
We have been taking my 3 year old son and our 17 month old daughter for a couple of years now. They see Dr. Roome. He is great. The whole office is just wonderful to us. Congrats!!!
We've seen everyone at Child Life Center and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Dorsey the best. They just added another doctor about 6 weeks ago, Dr. Caroline Olaleye, whom I'd ask for again in a second if Dorsey wasn't available. What I like best about Dorsey is that he really takes time to get to know you and your kids as if you're his only patients. After he talked with my shy 6 year old, she decided she wanted to go out for soccer this year because he convinced her it would be more fun to try than to wonder what it was like. And for my twins, especially my obnoxious boy when he is upset (since birth) he will literally just touch a pressure point behind his ear while he speaks calmly and makes eye contact. It's magical and almost hypnotic...my son just calms down instantly and stares back. He tries to find one thing each of our kids loves that he can relate to. There have been times we've waited for him, like any doctor, but once you're in, it's really like you're his only patient and his only focus. He's never rushed and we have a great rapport with him. I think it's very hard to find doctors you truly, truly love.
We have been going to Child Life since my first daughter was born almost 3 yrs. ago. We love it. All the doctors are good, but we do have our favorites...Dr. Dorsey is wonderful and takes his time with the visit, the kids love him, but I have found he runs behind schedule. Dr. Roome is the doctor we are currently seeing for our youngest and he is also very good and genuine, so far we havent had to wait too long to see him.
I have also never had a problem getting my daughters in to see someone if they were sick. Again, we have been very happy with the Child Life Center. We always recommend it to parents.
We LOVE Dr. Roome. Also like Dr. Dorsey and Dr. Townsend there. All of them are great with my kids!
Hi D.,
Congratulations on your new addition to your family. I have a pediatrician that my son has had since birth. He is awsome. He has an office in Tinley Park (on Harlem & 175th)and, Homewood (on Dixie Hwy). My son is now 17 and will be able to continue seeing him because he is a primary care physician. My son is epileptic and has ADHD. Dr. Akrami is his name. Dr. Akrami rarely reffered me to any specialists because his vast wisdom and knowledge. He is also very informative when asked any questions. I have through the years moved farther and farther away from Illinois but refuse to go to anyone else. Don't get me wrong over the years I have periodically tried other physicians closer to home but was never satisfied with their services. So to this day I still take my son to him. Dr. Akrami's number is ###-###-####.
Good luck on your search for a pediatrician.

I heard that there is a waiting list for new patients, so you may want to call them and find out the current status!
Hi, Yes, definately go with Child Life. My children go there and have been for eleven years. Dr. Roome, Dr. Townsend, Dr. Dorsey and the women Dr. (forgot her name) are all very excellent. My children are 11 and 9 and are not afraid to see any of them.
Good luck!

I take my daughter to the doctors at The Child Life Center and they are just wonderful. I see doctor Dorsey and he has wonderful bedside manor and my daughter just loves him. T.
Well, I'm in Matteson and I use Dr. Amin. She has an office in Matteson in the Ingalls building on rte 30 right in front of Lincoln Mall. She has been my boy's dr. since the day they were both born. In fact, I even met an adult firefighter that said she was HIS pediatrician! She has been around a long time and really listens to the parents... as long as you are will to ask questions and be a strong advocate for your child. If you need her on a Sunday, you just call the answering service and they will put you in touch with her or she will call you back at home.
She does have an office in Frankfort too. That is where I go. I know it's not in Homewood but she is worth the drive south to Matteson, at least.
Good luck in your search!!
