I can only give a cheer to you for choosing a pediatric dentist.

I looked up both docs and really like Hochsteins web site. The other one didn't have one but that doesn't make them a good or bad choice.

I would ask their policy about dental work, do they do it outpatient with the child sedated? My choice would be made if they said yes and the other said no. There is no way my kids do un-sedated. Our pediatric dentist works through 3 different hospitals in the general OKC area. He is well respected and does excellent work.

So, if you have questions that are specific like this one then their answers would make the choice for you.

Do they use white filling material or only use silver, no matter which teeth they are going to work on, our dentist said kids are cruel, why give them something to pick out and tease someone about. He used white material on my granddaughters front tooth that was broken off. When it came out I could not tell where the tooth ended and the white started. It matched that well.

I prefer a doc to put the kiddo's to sleep in a safe surgery style setting, I prefer a doc who is not too busy to know the kids by name and to be able to spend a few minutes with them joking around to make the kids feel at east. I choose to have a good personality match too.

I am not familiar with those two pediatric dentists but I would highly recommend Dr. Grace Smart in North Garland (Beltline/Shiloh Road) We have been using her since our kids were small and her staff is fabulous and so is she!

I don't know those two but we have been going to dr robert Morgan for almost 9 yrs. now and love him. My oldest had a baby root canal at age 6 and walked out smiling! He is in north richardson near Campbell and I-75.

I don't have personal experience with either of them but I take my 3 kids to Dr. Schaak http://www.pediatricdentistmckinneytx.com/ in McKinney. Not only is he IN-network with majority of insurance plans, he is SOOO accomodating and great with kids. Their office is totally kid friendly and relaxing. Dr. Schaak takes the time to play a little video game action with my anxiety ridden 8yo son before doing the exam and he makes a huge deal about my 5yo daughters "princess" teeth. He really knows how to deal with kids and their fears. We were just there yesterday in fact and at the end of my 3 kids cleanings, he held a "who can snap the dirty glove into the garbage can first" contest, my kids left giggling. My kids don't fight me going so I know they are at a great office.

I don't know where you live or how far you are willing to travel, but I just had to tell you about Rockwall Pediatric Dentistry. They work great with my 8 year old. She loves to go there and she had some pretty serious work done there. (She is the kind of child who starts to scream at the thought of needles). They work very hard to make sure the little ones don't have any pain. They do give them gas if it is something invasive they are going to do. I can't praise them enough. They leave the door open so you can go in if you start to feel anxious before they are done. I have never heard a child cry while being there.
