Peach Fuzz

I was wondering if any other moms out there have any experience with this. I have a three year old daughter, soon to be four, who has started to grow a little bit of peach fuzz under her arms. It is a little bit longer than "peach fuzz," probably about a quarter of an inch. She does have quite a bit of hair on her legs and a little above her lip. She drinks hormone free milk. I am a rather hairy gal (I could be a good side show at the circus) and I am wondering if she just unluckily inherited this from me and it has already started to come in or if it could be a hormonal issue. Perhaps it is perfectly normal for a three year old to have a little bit of hair under her arms. Any input out there would be appreciated. Thanks!

All cows milk has hormones. The hormones in milk are protien hormones. Its part of the protien contient of milk. The acid in your stomach breaks down the hormones into it smaller componants. which are absorbed and then made smaller into single amino acids. These amino acids are the build blocks for muscles, nerves, skin, etc. All milk contains hormones it is made for baby cows. Which use those hormoes for the same thing we do, to grow. When they refer to hormone free milk the refering to not giving hormones to the cow. If you truely are very hair yourself, it is very likly that it is genetic. If you are concerned about the hair growth I would see a doctor.

She COULD have inherited it from you, but I would take her to an endocrinologist and have her checked.

Hello H.,
Ok well here goes. I was a rather hairy 7 year old (twice as old as your little girl) and I was so hairy on my legs I wanted to start shaving, against my mothers "wishes" I did...
I started my cycle at 9 years of age (within a couple months of my 11 year old sister). My mother didn't start hers until she was 16.

Why do I tell you these things??? HORMONES!!! Not what naturally happens to us but what is FED to us. It's not just milk, it is in every meat, cheese, pudding, dairy & meat product out there! That is why organic meat & dairy is so important. It is throwing our systems so completely out of wack & into a hormonal OVERLOAD. Our bodies respond as they would during a pubescent stage. But to early and violently. Not "normal".

I refuse to have my daughters (& sons) go through such an awful hormonal influx when I can change it. Watch what foods you baby eats, and I recommend a book called "The stone age diet". It tells about the adverse effects of many "everyday" items such as soy. Hope this helps, Take care :) G

Hi H. - I would ask your doctor about this because you're right, it could be signs of a hormone surge. Young kids often have body hair on their legs and arms but not usually under their arms. You might check "down under" to see if she has any hair growth there. Take a look at her diet - she may be getting more hormones than you think from foods containing soy or even bath products with lilac. The term for it is precocious puberty. I listed an article below to help you with some general information. Perhaps it will lead you to more information you can find on your own.

best of all things,
C.

Dear H.,
Genesa is right. Our food and water is contaminiated with Zeno-estrogens which are partly responsible for premature physical development. What your daughter is experiencing is not normal. Have her endocrine system checked. If you do not drink filtered water, I would consider it. There are a number of systems out there. Also try to go with chicken and beef that is organic and not more than twice a week. It's all very scary and consumers must be vigilant.
Good luck.
