Has anyone used paypal? Have you ever had any problems with it? Has your credit card information ever been stolen this way?

What can I do next?

I've been using PayPal for several years now, and find it incredibly convenient. My account has never been compromised. I know not everyone has had that experience, but it's been mine.

I guess I am the only one who has had a problem with Paypal and I'll never use it again. Someone hacked into my account and charged French stamps, a dog magazine subscription, 6 mos of a dating service and some other rather juvenile items. I cancelled my charge card and called Paypal. They put a stop on my Paypal account. Everything turned out okay, but now I've been scarred and don't trust them anymore. Luckily Paypal always e-mails you and tells you what you just purchased through them. That is how I found out about my problem. $550 dollars was charged and it could have been worse if Paypal didn't notify me. Anyway, that is my two cents.

I run my home business solely throught PayPal and have never had a problem in the 2.5 yrs. I also used PayPal heavily for eBay for the last 6 years and only had a problem once--when my husband fell for a phishing scheme (an email posing to look like it's from PayPal which asked you to sign in w/ your password) and our bank acct. info was shared. The credit card company called us when a few hundred dollars were spent in one day, asking if it was a valid purchase. WHen we said it wasn't, we were refunded the money immediately & just changed our account information.
If you get these emails saying your account is frozen or you need to update your account, you can simply forward ____@____.com and they'll reply letting you know if it's safe or not. I do this at least 1x/week just to be safe. Also, if you scroll over the log in button they give you and the address isn't www.paypal.com , you know it's a scheme :)
PayPal charges no fees for regular transactions--only if you're receiving payments from credit card users, for which they charge .30 + 2.9% of the total.
They offer great protection for buyers. If you file a chargeback, or a claim that your purchase is fraudulent, you get your money back right away and the seller's account is either frozen or has the money taken out while they research the claim.
For places like eBay, when you have a confirmed address and the seller ships to you thru PayPal, you are protected by them if the item doesn't arrive. You have 45 days to file with PayPal (just click a button in your account and fill in a few details). They'll review the transaction and if the seller is unable to show proof of delivery to your home, PayPal will take the money from the seller's account and refund you.
I don't know what I'd do without PayPal :)

Used paypal for years. Never had a problem. Didn't like it when it changed from credit card charges to funds removed directly from your bank account--hadn't wanted to give that information, but it is very secure. Learned about 6 months ago that I can direct payment back through my credit card. I do this all the time now and am glad I did. I recently had a transaction on ebay for two items that I never received--filed a dispute with paypal. They do their thing--checking it out, checking out seller, etc., but that takes up to 30 days for a decision. Luckily my credit card company gave me immediate credit on the two items, and I don't have to wait for paypal to make the decision about a refund. If they get one, the credit card company gets the refund at this point since I've already gotten mine. Lesson learned, don't have paypal payments go through your bank account unless you really know the seller (i still do this on transactions for businesses I know and trust).

Hi J.,
I have used Paypal ALOT. I use it anytime it is accepted because there is a privacy guarantee. I believe they guarantee against fraud, check out their site but I have never had a problem. Been using them for about 3-4 years now. By the way, I am with you on vaccinations!! Sounds like we have some things in common. Happy shopping with Paypal.

I've been using Paypal for about 5 years, no problem ever. Except when my MOM bought something online and accidentally used my paypal instead of hers! I thought it was a fraudulent charge, was my own mother. That was embarrassing. : )

I have used Paypal a minimum of 300 times in the past few years to pay for Ebay bids, and even to send money to family members and make political contributions. .. NEVER A PROBLEM, I USE IT WITH CONFIDENCE!

I have used Paypal for over 10 years. I even used to use it when doing online poker playing (when it was legal). I have NEVER had one problem with it. I have my checking account linked right now but with a credit card backup.

My friend recently was in trouble with her husband for setting an account up and I explained how I had never had a problem in all these years and it eased his mind.
