Checking my account this morning I noticed a transaction processing, so i called the company and they proceed to explain that they are just charging me for a jacket that I purchased in January.
I remember when I ordered the jacket it was on back order, when it finally arrived It was nothing like I expected so I just passed the jacket onto my daughter and never noticed that the company never charged me.

Would it aggravate you that the company took 5 months out of the blue to charge you?

Yes i am aggravated at myself for not keeping track and calling them to say hey what happened, is the jacket a gift or are you charging me for it or what!

I did go back and check my bank statement, there is not a charge per the date the rep at Newportnews.com stated that I placed the order. I am paying just a little aggravated with myself!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am pretty much done with NewportNews.com

I ordered a pair of sandles from them and they sent me a size 7 when I clearly ordered a size 10. I ask to speak to a super and guess what?! They do not take calls!!!!!!

They were wrong to wait so long to charge you, but the charge is legitimate as long as you haven't already paid it. If they shipped the merchandise and you received it, you should pay.

It is aggravating, but I don't think there is any regulation that says you are not responsible for the charge. Pay it and be on your way. If you didn't like the jacket, you should have notified them and returned it.

It is only annoying to those that keep poor records. I am one of them by the way. I would be more mad at myself for not noticing than the company that did it.

I had a restaurant bill me for a dinner in February and we hadn't been there in over a month. I called and the manager told me there was a system glitch and charges were never charged on that day. So corporate was re-running the charges. I went back and looked at the calendar and we were NOT even there on that day, and if we were, the charges would have been more.

If my husband works close to home (which was once a month or so) we would take our youngest out to lunch before taking him to school. Our bill is about $40 with tip and all when we do that. The date in question was a weekend - where the bill would be more like $60 for all 5 of us. So there is NO way.

My bank refunded the charge immediately and did an investigation which they found to be fraud.

So if you can see you didn't pay I guess that's an annoyance, but still, it's BAD business for the company to do that.

Check you bank and/or credit card records for the company name. Make sure that they didn't charge you between Jan. and now. It IS odd that they would send you the jacket before they charged you for it.

I had one company charge me a year out. They had found year old receipts and resubmitted them as the current year. For that I had to call the bank and refuse the charge, fill out paperwork, etc.

It sounds like they don't have a good billing procedure yet (new company, maybe?)

I wouldn't use them again if I were you. (You didn't like the merchandise as it was anyway!)

Just a thought....do they offer deferred billing? I thought NewportNews was one of those that offers deferred billing......I used to buy from places like that and then wonder why I suddenly got charges and then go back and have an "Oh yeah, I bought this months ago!" moment.

Most online companies will not charge until the item ships. How long ago did you receive the jacket?
