I use a home day care sitter part time (1-2 days/week) for two kids. She charges me $5 hour per child. The rate was the same when I only had one child too. I typically give a holiday gift/bonus equivilent to one full days pay.
We currently share our sitter (she watches the children in her own home ONLY 1-2 days/week) with another family - which we both pay her the same amount for each child. Now that I have another child, what is the typical pay increase? Is it a percentage of what I pay her now? Or is there a standard pay increase? And with the holidays coming up, what do we pay her as a bonus? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

What ever you are paying her it should be the same amount as the 1st child with a discount of $25-$50.
I also do daycare and if a parent has a 2nd child I charge them the same fee minus a family discount.
I found that the standard rule of thumb is double your single rate and subtract 10-20%.

The same rate as your other child. Possibly $10-20 less. If she's only watching your children 1-2 days a week I would doubt she would give a family discount.
I also do home childcare, though I am not sure about other rates or what you are paying now, but I can give you an estimate on what I charge, maybe it could give you an idea of a pay increase. I charge $130.00 a week for 1 child, for 2 children in one family I charge $220.00. I also home cook all meals and are included in the rate. I hope this helps!
I do home daycare & I would at least expect $100.00 more per week expecially with a newborn yes they sleep a lot but they also require a lot of work. I normally charge $150.00 a week for 1, 250.00 a week for 2. and so on it will capout at 3, but I also potty train, supply meals, and preschool lessons. I also will take preschoolers to school if they go on a part time basis. It breaks down to 30.00 a day just check out some daycares in your neighborhood and see what they would charge, I find it crazy, how can people afford it?
Good Luck to you
Kris
The 20% rule minus your original rate would be accurate. One thing to keep in mind, if this woman is not liscensed through the state, be very careful. She is only allowed to watch up to 3 children (including her own) in her home without a lisc. It would likely be very hard to catch her, but DCFS can shut her down. It would be difficult though.
Take Care.
