I served both of these at a Fall baby shower and they were a hit, one warm and one cold for variety.
Warm and Spicy Punch
2 oranges
8 whole cloves
6 cups apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 1/4 cups pineapple juice
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Stud the whole oranges with cloves, and bake for 30 minutes.
3. In a large saucepan, combine the apple juice and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium, and simmer 5 minutes.
4. Remove from heat, and stir in the nutmeg, honey, lemon juice, and pineapple juice.
5. Serve hot in a punch bowl with the 2 clove-studded baked oranges floating on top. (I served this out of a crockpot to keep it warm and for a nicer presentation)
Tea Punch
1 cup white sugar
1 cup strong brewed black tea (vanilla flavor optional)
4 cups orange juice
4 cups pineapple juice
4 cups prepared lemonade
1 (2 liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled
(or add a little vanilla flavoring if you can't find flavored tea)
1. In a pitcher, combine sugar and tea. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in orange juice, pineapple juice and lemonade. Chill in refrigerator for 4 hours.
2. Just before serving, pour chilled juice mixture into a punch bowl and stir in ginger ale.
