Party Mints

OK, this probably seems like a silly question, but here it is.

I'm hosting a baby shower next weekend for my niece. My mother would like me to make mints to serve and I don't have time for that nonsense, mints take a lot of time. Can you recommend a good brand of mints that I could find at either a major store like Target or Walmart, or perhaps a party store like Party America (I think that's what it's called).

Thanks, Have a Great Weekend!

M.

I wonder if it's a generation thing.... my mom insisted on making mints for my son's bday party. I was like okay, have at it. They take forever, but she was happy so I was happy. I'm with you, I'm sure you can find some cute mints somewhere. I wonder if they have any at a party store? I don't really get the tradition of having nuts and mints with cake. I just want the cake!!! hehe

Hope the baby shower goes well and everyone has a good time!!! :-)

Oh but they taste so good home made = ) We have always made them for showers and also for Christmas.
But yes, you can get cute mints store bought...we like the tiny ones that look like chocolate chips but are yellow and pink and green with the little white nonpareils on the bottom.

I know Walmart sells party mints. I swear they're all the same. Dump them into a dish so it looks like you made them yourself ;)

I love doing things myself and making things from scratch, but I have never ever even heard of making your own mints! I would never expect homemade mints, or anything else for that matter. If you have the time and desire to do it, then by all means go ahead. But no one will care a bit if you just buy some at the store and put them in a pretty dish, except maybe your mom, but I'm sure she'll get over it. For any parties where we have had mints, we always have gotten a huge container of the pastel colored butter mints, the ones that just melt in your mouth and they look like little pillows. You can get them anywhere they sell party supplies. Do you have a Gordon's Food Service or a Sam's Club/Costco near you? I would try places like that for the best price. Have fun party planning!

Okay, wow, I have never heard of making your own party mints either! Are we talking like the little pastel colored ones? I'm sure they are all the same. IF however, you want to get a tiny bit creative...I have a quick and cute idea for you. There is a store on college and Antioch that is a cake decorating store, can't remember the exact name but they have the most amazing white chocolate mint. They also have candy molds. I've made my own candy using this stuff and it's seriously awesome!! All you do is melt it, pour it in the mold, freeze it for 3 minutes and it's done..that's it! My friends were super impressed and it was so good! The brand is Guittard and the flavor is just white mint.
