I have huge birthday parties and the best games have been pin the tail, and we always have a pinyta filled with little toys and candy....The kids love the pinyta :)

Hi K.,
I have a great idea. My kids have played it every year so far and my oldest (age 16) and her friends even like it still.
It's called Mummy. You break into groups of 2. So if you have 10 kids, you would have 5 groups. You buy 10 rolls of the cheapest toilet paper. You get the teammates facing eachother and when you blow the whistle, they have to run across the room to their partner.Pick up the toilet paper and start making the a "mummy" by rolling it around them and whoever finishes emptying their roll and covering their teammate the most wins. Then the sides are switched and you do it again. Take LOTS of pictures as it's going on. It's a funny one. If you feel bad about wasting the toilet paper-just pick it up and put it in a bag and have it next to your toilet for the next week or 5. ;-)

Hope you try it and like it!

I dont know the name for this game but it's something that i remeber playin as a kid and thought it was really fun. you give each kid a string a couple feet long tie one end around the ankle of the kid and on the other end tie a balloon. the object is to pop the other kids balloon while trying to protect yours. They'll run around like crazy. I would suggest having a "better" balloon to give them once they have had their balloon popped so that they dont feel bad about popping their balloon.. It's good fun and it's fun for even a little older kids.. we still do it at parties with the adults when you want to feel a little childish. =) have fun

We did this at my 4 year olds last b-day and it was alot of fun!
We hid a bunch of candy and little party favors out in the yard and then gave them all treat bags and let them run around and find them. It was a great alternative to a pinata, and the kids ran around and had a great time!
Also we did a bean bag toss, hopscotch, with small prizes like some of the little packaged party favors. Also we put out a ton of sidewalk chalk and let them decorate the driveway. :)
Then we all came inside for cake and ice cream, then gifts.

Dear K.,
Here are a few simple games. 1# this game is a race. the kids are on two teams. you have items for each team on a table or an adult or older brother or sister can hand off the items(easier). You need two clueless good hearted adults,who will sit on achair or floor so the kids can put items on them.
Items you can use are, two floppy hats,Big sunglasses,along necklace or a lei,lipstick,and anything that would be funny and kids can put on easily.the last thing that goes on is silly string.(told you need good hearted adults). Its really funny and everyone gets a big kick out of it. you can get most of these items at a dollar store. silly string you can find at walmart for a dollar a can. 2# Dont give up on the old stand bys like duck duck goose and captain may I, not every game has to have a prize. also musical chairs and hot and cold. I hope I helped. Have fun take lots of pictures!!!. K. F.

I dont know to much about games to play, but what I usually do for my kids parties is to have some sort of craft project for them to do. That way they have something to keep them busy, and they get to take something home. I dont like to give them too much candy and a bunch of stuff that they will never play with again and just ends up in the garbage.
For example; for my daughters 5th birthday party the theme was cowgirl. I had a bunch of horse shoes (pony size), paints, gems, glue, glitter, etc. Then I just lay out a big piece of plastic on the floor and let them at it. I helped out when needed, but it went great. For my 2 year old party we made Princess hats. Easy- construction paper, stapler, tape, glue, gems, glitter and ribbon/party streamers(to hang out the top of the hats. Roll the paper into a cone shape, staple it to fit the child, let the kids decorate it how they want. If you want, you can buy some elastic and staple it on so that they dont fall off. All of the girls loved it. If you are having boys and girls, you could do all sorts of different hats, animals, pirate, dragons, construction, etc.

Here is a great website that I found that has alot of great ideas;

Hope this helps!

My nephew was staying with us, on his fifth birthday we did a Pirate treasure hunt. We went to the dollar store and got alot of "pirate goodies" which they had alot of. Then we hid bags of treasure all over the house. 1 per person. We played musical chairs, and other pirate games.
