I vote no favors. You're already paying for the water park. I stopped doing favors the year I forgot to hand out the ones I made, and not one person, parent or child, noticed.
My husband and I are hosting a birthday celebration for my daughter at an indoor waterpark next month. She is turning 7. I don't know what to send home with the girls. I thought about towels but I don't know if I will be able o find beach/pool towels in January. I am also hoping not to spend too much as the cost of the party is pretty expensive already. We have invited 21 friends. Any suggestions? Thanks:)
Well, first of all, I want to thank each and every one who took the time to help me out. I appreciated all of the responses and the support. Great ideas and thoughtful replies. I tried to resist giving into the party favor pressure. However, my husband insisted that we come up with a little something. We stumbled upon a great deal at Bath & Body Works today while we were out and about. They were previewing a new product that actually will roll out on my daughter's birthday! So, for a $! (regularly $3.50) each I was able to purchase a 2 oz. bottle of Carried Away body lotion for each girl. I think they are perfect and a pretty nice party favor. My daughter was with us and she is thrilled:)

I've seen swimsuits up in Target already, so it's possible you can get towels now if you want. But I would think with a waterpark party, you may not need to do favors at all.
You might be able to order them but i don't expect party favors/goody bags at parties especially when they are held somewhere besides home. Don't feel obligated to give them you ate already treting these kids to a water park.
I was thinking maybe a colorful beach pail/shovel, or plastic water bottle - you could personalize them with paint markers and fill them with assorted candy without it costing a fortune. Alternately, you could snap photos during the day of your daughter with her friends, and include a copy in the thank-you notes as a nice reminder of the fun they had.
ok going out on a limb here and saying skip the favors lol. you are no doubt already paying between $15 and $20 a kid to just get them into this place. I would make some little bags with maybe a big fat cookie on it and a thank you note attached saying thanks for coming and be done with it.
You may not find beach towels but there are bigger towels in the bath towels area maybe you can find something there.Since she is 7 I would do lipgloss or chap sticks from the dollar store a travel hair brush some blow pops put them in a goddy bag since they are a little older.
I want to hunt down the person that started party favors and give them a piece of my mind! That said, we've done small beach balls before & had each girl at the party sign them with a Sharpie.
I agree with skipping the favors. I stopped doing them when I realized that my kids didn't care about the ones they got and usually ended up in the trash. The parties are so expensive already. The best "favor" would be a photo of each child from the party. I always tried to get a photo of each kid doing something fun or with my child when they opened their gift. Then I would do thank you letters on the computer that included the photo or several photos and e-mailed it to the parents.
We had a party at a waterpark last summer and I got cheap sand pails for the "bag" then decorated it with their name and filled it with sunglasses, blow up beach balls and a couple of suckers. I got it all at the $1 store. I was going to add a towel but it got to be too expensive. Although, a towel is definitely something they will use again. We just came from an Alice in Wonderland party and her favors consisted of an Alice in Wonderland book and a deck of playing cards - something we will use again and again.
Hi!
The party sounds like fun! What about blow up beach balls (I think you can get them at Orientaltrading.com)? You could have the girls blow them up and sign each other's ball.
Have fun!
We did mini beach balls. You can get them pretty cheap from Oriental Trading. Our party was almost 2 years ago and kids were still playing with the beach balls at the pool last summer.
At 7 years old, a towel can be a regular bath towel, it doesn't have to be a beach towel. You might check www.overstock.com for beach towels that aren't expensive, or just look at Target for some bright colored towels, they usually have them for $2-3.00 each (especially if you catch them on sale) and a normal sized towel for a 7 year old should be big enough. Other ideas would be cookies - I usually bake a cookie in the theme of the party. In this case, maybe a square cookie and decorate it like a towel, or a round cookie and make it look like a sun. You could also do water guns and/or pool tubes (the float-y thing).
I agree...party favors aren't necessary. But...I also know the 'pressure' to have a favor. Try www.swimoutlet.com They have some cute things that you could do for a swim party - like goggle for $5 and FUN swim caps for $3-$4.
Have fun!
Something easy, affordable, useful, and water park conscious could be to decorate some flip flops for the girls & just get some jewels or fake flowers and glue them on the tops. You can get for $1 at most places these days.
a water park is a pretty nice "favor" to begin with. I think you can get a bottle of bubbles and a fruit leather or a sheet of cheap stickers w/ a summer theme and put it in a little baggy with a ribbon tying it shut and you would be perfectly set at less than a $1 a kid.
Can we all vote and agree that the favors are a burden?!?! :)
maybe an blow up inner tube.. my local dollar store carries these- I am not sure if they have begun stocking summer toys- but you might look!
here's another idea- I got pencil boxes be my daughter's birthday and put three different snacks in them as the party favors-
She had a strawberry party- so I got red boxes and put 3 strawberry flavored snacks- fruit chews, a fruit strip, and a fruit granola bar-
a smoothy colorful, plastic glass from the dollar store and ingrediants for a smoothy to make at home. Use puffy paint and put the girls names on them.
Skip the favors. I don't know where this trend came from, but I honestly think it's stupid and unnecessary. You're hosting the party at a water park and providing one heck of a fun day, that's enough to give - the kids'll go home with great memories. Personally, when I attended a birthday party as a kid, I brought the Bday kid a present, and I was happy to go home with cake in my stomach! :)
