Part Time Work Options

Hi Moms,

I am working fulltime right now and my hubby and I are at odds about our current daycare situation. Meaning we don't agree on our current arrangement and money to spend or not to spend. My oldest of three starts Kindergarten on Monday so will need daycare in the afternoon. I have issues of balancing work with three small children and I am totally comfortable and at peace making "the" decision to stay home if once we crunch the numbers and budget allows me to do so.

My question....I am open to parttime for some extra money work and can be flexible. Please no suggestions on at home business such as Melaluca, Mary Kay, Shaklee, Tastefully Simple...I have friends and my women's groups already doing these things and the market is saturated...What other suggestions do you have? Retail for a few evenings at night?

What can I do next?

I would suggest trying retail for a few nights. The pay won't be great but it'll be a little extra cash. Also maybe try looking into a store that would be beneficial to you. Like somewhere you shop because then you can use the discount. I use to work at a childrens clothing store when my daughter was little and got all her clothes at an awesome discount. Good luck to whatever you decide to do.

One thing I am looking into right now ( I have a 6 yo who just started full time school and a 2 1/2 yo that I have been home with since he was born...couldn't afford daycare for two) is coffee shops....Starbucks, Caribout, other local places. You can start very early in the AM (5-6 am) and be done in the afternoon/early afternoon. This way they don't have to spend so long in daycare. I am hoping my husband (when he finds a job...) can take my little one to daycare in the morning and then he may be there for only about 5 hours or so instead of a full day and I can be home in time to pick up my son from school.

How about seeing if your local library needs anyone at night for a couple of hours?

Hi,

I just took the "leap of faith" too. I found a part time job that will be flexible with my current family needs, but will still suppor the sustainability of our family. What is your field because there are many articles out there about your "transferable skills" because of the current economy. There are temp. agencies that you can apply to and you can tell them what your needs are and they can often find work for you that way. I also get a million emails from websites that have jobs. Have a really great resume ready to upload! If you want I can look it over and help with this more modern type of resume that will get you job and....patience...and pray!

Hope this is helpful!
