Hi again ladies,
My son was given an Android tablet by his father's family, but they haven't put any kind of parental controls or locks on it whatsoever. I just have my ipad and iphone, which he has had very limited use of, with me sitting right there, so this is new to me. Can someone direct me to a LEGIT, hopefully easy, way to monitor/control his tablet? Are there such things as free ones? Totally out of my depth here :(
I need to do this ASAP because our neighbors son is allowed on Youtube, and other internet sites, that my son is not - so it's only a matter of time before he tries it on his tablet, I'm sure.
Thanks!
Nervy - thanks for the link. But FYI, it doesn't take a lot of nerve to be a smartass online :) I am aware of Google.
I had already done a search and had trouble getting things like that to work, and even found some articles that said I'd have to download something. Unfortunately I don't have the tablet front of me, but I will try this one once I get it in front of me again.
Thanks all - I probably didn't provide enough information, I want to say it was something about the specific tablet we have. I will keep working on it. Maybe I can get one of these suggestions to work.

Our sons have Kindles. There is a 'parental control' portion under settings. You can make things like Internet and Videos password protected. You would have to put in your password for the Internet to work. You can also disable wireless.
Well the first control you have is limiting his time with the device to a few hours per day.
Make sure he uses in in public areas of the house (not in his bedroom) so you can easily see over his shoulder what he's getting into.
There's probably a way to shut off internet access (google it) so you have control of what is downloaded.
If ypour child has an android tablet, you can get parental controls from the Google app store. If he will get on using wi-fi, then you can setup using your service's application. I did this with an old tablet I had that I let my daughter use. I blocked youtube on the tablet itself so that no matter where we were or what service, she could not get into it with out a code.
