I have had numerous issues with birth control pills and am at a point in my life where I'm not sure if I want more children or not. After discussing many options with my gynecologist we both agree the Paraguard is the best route. I am just wondering if there are any other mom's out there that have used this and if so what your experience has been.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you!

I have one and it is great! The first few periods are a little rough (some cramping and heavier bleeding). Then after that, you don't even know that it is there. I had menstral migraines with the pill and don't have them with the Paragard, because they are hormone free. I think you will be happy with this if you decide.

I just got it implanted 2 months ago. I have a history of blood clots so my doctor does not want me on anything hormonal, and we don't plan to have any more kids. I am 38 and it's supposed to be good for 10 years, so by the time I would need another one, I may not need anything!

So far all I have noticed is the 2 periods I've had so far have been quite heavy - much heavier than before, but I'm hoping that it won't be this way every time. It's more of a nuisance than anything. The first couple of days after it was implanted there was some major cramping - if you do get it, take whatever works for you for pain and a hot bath.

Have it and love it. No side effects except for a heavy period 2 days per month. Don't have to worry about anything that stops "sponanetity" and no hormones. I'd recommend it to anyone.

It is WAY better than Mirena for so many women because there are NO hormones associated with it. The cramping after insertion can be rough for a day or two, but other than that, my friends have liked it. Many of them got rid of Mirena and feel a ton better with the ParaGard.

I've had mine for 8.5 years and *absolutely LOVE it*. First 3 periods were gnarly (super crampy, hello midol), after that for the past 8+ years... nothing/ nada/ zilch except for better protection than even a tubal. I'll be getting my 2nd one next year.

My period was heavier w/ it then w/ out (i.e. I never cramped before and was over in 4-5 days and w/ it I had some cramping and it was 5-6days long) but I LOVED it. Had it in for about 6 years, had it taken out because we wanted to try for #2 and I got pregnant on my second cycle.

I hated it. I bled constantly on it. The doc put me on the pill for a while to regulate my cycle (which defeats the purpose) and then I would have irregular long heavy periods with cramping. Apparently some women have this side effect. I gave up after 2 yrs and had it removed in favor of the mirena, which had its own set of side effects. I talked to a friend that did research on IUDs and she told me that if you are prone to heavy periods you should never get the Paraguard.

I loves it. We didn't get pregnant on it. I didn't even feel it and had no heavy periods, or extra cramping.
