Painful Feet

This is weird, I really dont understand why it happens. I go to bed, tired of course, but I have no sort of pain or physical complaints. I wake up & when I walk, my feet and ankes ache, like Ive strained them, or walked all day, (I guess they are sort of cramped, its hard to walk on them like that) I can barely walk for the first while. After 20-30 minutes, it goes away. They dont look swollen & its like the bones hurt or something. Its odd to me. Its been a few months like this, but I feel stupid going to the doctor about it. My feet DO ache if Im walking long, but this isnt walking induced. Any ideas? I always think its my weight and part of aging, but still seems odd. im neither huge nor that old.

What can I do next?

You could have developed plantar fasciitis. My MIL and husband both have it, they reported feeling better once they started wearing orthopedic shoe inserts. Never feel bad to see your doctor about any symptom that is new to you. You know yourself (your normal) better than anyone. Good luck and hope you get some relief soon.

I agree. See your doctor. Rheumatoid arthritis could be the problem and that is something in which early treatment may help delay/ prevent more long term damage.

Hi D.,

I agree -- go see your doctor. Symptoms you're describing could describe plantar fascitis, arthritis (there are over 100 kinds, not just rheumatoid), onset of peripheral cardiovascular disease, fallen arches, and at least 20 other differential diagnoses, none of which can be diagnosed by someone on a website who has no medical training.

The thing is, since this has been going on for months without improvement, it's not like you're running to the dr. over something that's insignificant or clearing up on its own. After suffering with this for months, the likely response from your dr. is going to be "what took you so long to come see me?" BTW, start with a GP or an internist, not a podiatrist. Make sure systemic causes are ruled out before you look for a localized problem.

Definitely see the doctor but you may need Calcium. My friend had the same symptoms taking a calcium/magnesium combo supplement helped. Good luck.
