I waited a full day before taking my 10 month old to the hospital when he broke his leg. His leg wasn't red or swollen so I just thought he was tired because it was close to bed time. The next day he wasn't complaining but he also wasn't getting up to walk so I took him in and found out it was a broken leg. The doctor said it happens all the time with parents that wait because the pain isn't as bad as a sprain or other injuries.
Just the other week we found out a kid on the baseball team had a broken hand but kept playing with it and the original injury was from 2 weeks before he went to the doctors.
Anyway, I'd take him in just to be sure nothing is going on in there.

Hi, Bita:

Could be a pulled ligament or muscle. It will heal itself with time.

I would take him to the doc or ER. My daughter fell and broke her arm when she was 3. Wasn't so much a break, as it was a crack and a bend in the bone. Kids bones are still pretty soft. It could be a hairline or greenstick fracture. Better safe than sorry. Good luck!

Take him to the doctor. He may have a deep bruise, that only requires using ice several times a day, but he may also have a fracture.

Take him to a doctor! If I had a dollar for every story I have heard about mothers not realizing their kids had broken a bone.....He could easily have cracked or chipped the bone.

Please take him to the doctor right away. It could be nothing, but honestly, are you going to let your 4 year old cry and limp around any longer? This is not the place for medical advice.
