Hello ladies! I just wanted to ask if anybody has maybe experienced this?

A little back ground info.. After delivering my LO, I quit my PP bleeding after about three weeks. Well, a week after that I got my period (which is odd since I'm EBF); I told my doc about it and he said it was fine and I might have out done myself. Which I did.. Carrying around an almost ten pound baby, cleaning the house.. I never stopped! Anyway, my LO is now four and a half months, and I haven't gotten a period again. Which is fine- I did take a pregnancy test a month ago and it came out negative. But yesterday I started getting these pains in my tummy (uterus area). They weren't really bad so I tried to ignore them. Today I'm having the same pains.. A little worse :(

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking maybe ectopic preg? (I pray not) Maybe I'm being a hypercondriac :( Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Oh and I've also been having terrible lower back pain for a week or more. Not sure if it's related.. We do need a new mattress!

*****No I'm not getting my period. I just had that one.. If it was a period..? But my tummy does feel bloated like when I do have one :(
@Bethany. It was only on the left side yesterday and now it feels like it's the whole tummy :( I looked up ectopic pregnancy and I'm wondering, did you get shoulder pain? About monday or tuesday, I was sitting at the comp and started getting shooting pains in my shoulder. I had no idea what it was and just ignored it. Now I see that it can be a symptom of ectopic pregnancy! I'm so worried :(

What can I do next?

You could have an ovarian cyst. They can cause swelling which I mistaked for bloating and the pain moved. Even though the cyst was on one side I would get pain on both. Ovaries are funny that way. Are you on any birth control at all? An IUD or a pill? I have an IUD and it causes cysts often. It might just be a normal PP pain. They happen especially if you baby was bigger and your uterus was stretched super far. If you are that concerned just call your doctor and he can tell you if you should come in for a check. I had my son almost a year ago and my OB is still on speed dial because pregnant causes all sorts of crazy things and I would rather call and know its nothing then let it go and get worse!! Hope this helps!

If you do too much you can have that bleeding which might have seemed like a period was it really dark or red? You could be having afterbirth pains I can't remember when mine came but they were terrible low back and stomach. If you continue to have pain and no period I would go get checked to be sure everything is OK to give you peace of mind if nothing else. Good Luck.

Please don't assume you may be a hypochondriac and don't assume it's just your mattress! Vague stomach-area painsand bloating can be almost anything -- there are lots of organs crammed down in that area so this could be nothing, could be gas, could be serious. See a doctor tomorrow -- don't let them put you off with an appointment weeks away (or even one week away).

I had an ectopic pregnancy. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced outside of childbirth. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was at the hospital. I did have shooting pain in my shoulder. It was so painful that I would just be doubled over in pain. I would go to the doctor just to have it checked out.

An ectopic usually has a slight pain at first in ONE spot and doesn't move around. It would stay in that one area and then the pain would get much, much worse. I know, I had one.
What you have doesn't sound like that by what you posted. I would get it checked out though.

I don't believe you actually got your period after you stopped your post partum bleeding. As your OB said, it was probably that you over-did it and started PP bleeding again. Remember, this is an open wound inside your uterus that needs time and rest to heal.
As for the ectopic pregnancy, you would still show up positive on a pregnancy test as you would be producing the same hormones it's designed to detect--the little embryo just attached in the wrong place. Take another one in a week just to make sure you have enough of the hormones in your body to get a good test.
How has your digestion been? Does the pain come and go? IBS symptoms? Does it get worse when you eat a fatty meal? Is it your right shoulder that has pain? I ask these questions because it could be that your gallbladder may be acting up. This doesn't mean that you need to get it yanked out which could cause much more harm than good. It just means that you may need some help in the digestive arena. Let me know and contact me privately. I have seen many cases like yours and it's an easy fix by making a few changes.
God Bless, Dr. Jenn

Your body just has raging, somewhat confused hormones. It's completely normal. My experience with both my kids was similar to yours. I wouldn't worry about being pregnant or anything, just take some advil and get plenty of rest and water.
