P90X - Anyone Done It/doing It?

my husband and i ordered the P90X system yesterday, we're planning on starting it whenever it gets here. the plan is to do it 5 or 6 nights a week starting about 7:30ish in the evening when we have our youngest in bed and the older two are winding down for the night. we're both slim, it's not really a weight loss tool, just a tool to firm up a bit and get an energy boost. so, just curious what the opinions are from those of you that have done it :) thanks!

edited to add: thansk for the replies thus far :) we went out and got a pull up bar yesterday, my husband's gonna install it tonight - we also got resistance bands - we have some dumb bells here at the house already, just gonna see what we each prefer as we progress with the workouts. like i said, we are both in good shape(he's a naturally muscular 145lb 5'9" with a 30 inch waist, i'm about 5'4" 120lbs) - i'd like to tone up a little, but mostly just improve my health. we are not planning to follow the diet - i've never done any sort of diet, never plan to. we don't eat a lot of meat, mostly fruits and veggies, some carbs. so we shall see, i'm excited to start - hoping my shoulder and knee can take it!

What can I do next?

One of my closest girlfriends started in and in 4 months she does it 6 days a week she has lost two dress sizes and looks amazing. Her body is fit and I see the difference if I wasn't so damn lazy I would do it myself she looks amazing. Go for it.

It is super hard if you're not already in fairly decent shape. It's really hard even if you are, but it's a "good hurt" if you know what I mean.

I started it about 4 months ago & after about 3 1/2 weeks in I hurt my knee. I kept trying to do it, but was only making my knee worse so I had to give it a rest. I haven't gone back to it yet, but I plan on starting back up within the next few weeks once all of our summer plans have been finished. By Christmas I should be in really decent shape, by next spring I should look rockin' awesome!

I am just starting the second round of P90X classic. I was always extremely active (running, spin, SET class, etc), but love, love, love the change in my shape and the level of strength and tone I have now!! WOW!
fyi - yes super, super hard the first two weeks, but you will be amazed at how your body will respond positively to the workouts and in just one week (seriously) you will see differences in your strength level, etc.
Watch your food intake if you don't follow the diet plan they provide. More protien, enough calories are key.
I dropped those "hard to lose" 8 pounds and am hoping that the next round will do that again:)
Good luck! and be sure you get some hand weights or bands. I got the pull up bar and bands and used some of my hubby's free weights - make it so much "better" in terms of having what you need right there:)

i cant do it due to a back injury. but the guy that makes P90X also has one called the 10 minute trainer that is amazing as well. So if P90X is too much you have something else to try. Also my neighbor who is a real fitness buff couldn't do P90X & she just told me she got the 10 minute trainer & loves it.

I started the "classic" version in February of this year, and within about three months lost 13 pounds (155 to 142). I didn't lose weight instantly, but boy did my shape change very fast.

It was hard as HELL for me though. I literally felt physically ill for the first 3 weeks. And if I didn't eat properly, I felt even worse.

My sister got married in early June, and once that "motivation" passed its been very, very hard for me to get myself "up" to do it again on any meaningful level. That's my biggest "con" about P90X - it is intense, and it takes alot of time, especially if you do it the way it is designed (including Ab Ripper X). It almost "scared" me off working out much at all, and consequently my weight is back up 8-9 lbs.

Therefore, I just started Jillian Michael's "30 Day Shred" - based on some recommendations from moms here. It is tougher than I thought it would be, but VERY efficient time-wise.

You sound like you're in better shape than me. My husband is a fitness guru, and LOVES P90X. He's in the best shape of his life, and looks amazing. His only complaint is the time it takes sometimes.

Good luck and I hope you guys enjoy working out together!

PS: I have "10 Minute Trainer" too, but for some reason it just doesn't do much for me.
