Has anyone used an ovulation predictor from the drug store? What do you have to do and are they reliable?

Thanks.

What can I do next?

They work...the package should explain exactly how to use it. I don't remember all the details of the procedure, but I used one to conceive my son 11 years ago and what I remember is keeping a chart of my cycle, and then peeing on a lot of little sticks until I got two pink marks, which meant I was ovulating. (I remember calling my husband and telling him that "there were two pink lines," and that we had to "get down to business" ASAP, lol!!!) I had to use one because I have PCOS and had to take Clomid to ovulate at all, so I needed to know if the medication had any effect. The ovulation predictor definitely worked accurately, because I have a nearly 11 year old son to prove it! :)

Good luck to you -- I hope that you have a "positive" outcome (in more ways than one)! :)

I used them. They were from Clearblue - it was the one that shows a smiley face or a circle, not the lines. The lines never seemed to work for me, I could never tell if I had one or 2 lines. What I ended up doing is using the ovulation sticks in combination with basal body temperature monitoring. It worked, because I am now 5 months pregnant with a baby girl!

I used an ovulation predictor when I was trying to get pregnant but I found that it didn't work for me. It's just like a pregnancy test in the way that you use it. However, if you don't at least have some idea of when you're ovulating, you'll have to use it every day, which will get expensive. I think they give you 7 sticks in a box. For me, my periods were so irregular that I couldn't even guess the week correctly. My doctor said the ovulation test kits are pointless and it's easier to listen to your body. It sounds gross but when you have the sticky, clear, discharge, that's when you're ovulating. It's kind of like egg whites. My doctor said you get that so the sprem can slide more easily. She was right because the first time I paid attention to my body I got pregnant!

Hi R.,

I did and now I have a wonderful little boy to add to my family. The Clearblue 30 day sticks. They say to dispose of them after the first month. Don't its just a way for them to sell more product. If the first month did not work I used them for the next month. It took 3 months because I was trying for the boy. The darker the color is the closer you are to the egg and from what I read the boys swim out faster then the girls so I wanted to get as close as I could. It worked because I have my boy. Now I have boy and girl. :) If you want a girl I will send you a private email because I do not want to offen anyone. It will take a little more detail. :) Good Luck. :) (Walgreens or CVS)
