Overwhelmed with Where to Move

My husband and I are a one car family at the moment, and while we're planning to change that, am not sure when it's going to happen. Right now, we live in 76116, about 10 minutes from my husband's job, but are not happy with the school our kindergartener is in. I'd like to move into another school's district, but don't know which West Side Fort Worth schools I should be looking near. I am also wondering how White Settlement's schools are, so if anyone could give me input, I'd be very thankful.

D.,
I can understand your concerns. My husband and I specifically moved back into the WSISD district so that our 5 year old could attend WSISD schools. She currently is at Liberty Elem and is in the dual language program there. We have been nothing but pleased. Her base school is Blue Haze and from what I have heard it is also a very good elementary school. If you go to WSISD site, I believe it will give you the ratings for the different schools and for the past several years they are all at a min. accepted with most of them being exemplary.

FWISD was not an option as we had older children and the system is just too large. Kids tend to get lost in the shuffle.

I am not familiar with the other districts around but keep in mind if you move to far away from your hubby's job then it will make it much more difficult with only one vehicle. So don't forget to consider that as you are making your decision.

Wow, can I ever relate to what you're saying! I live in the same zipcode and have the same concerns. My husband are on the verge of throwing in the towel and moving to Keller. A great resource that I've found to find out more about neighborhoods around Fort Worth is http://www.city-data.com/forum/fort-worth/. A good resource to check out schools is http://www.greatschools.org/. I haven't read great things about White Settlement ISD.

Hi D.,

Why not consider the Tanglewood School District? It is supposed to be a "recognized" school for elementary level (not sure about junior or high-school). It's in the TCU - 71609 area off of Hulen.

I have heard that Blue Haze Elem is a good school in WS school district. They have Exemplary status. Also, Waverly Park Elem in Benbrook has Exemplary status as well. You could probably google both schools to look at their reviews & awards.

I come from a family that has had 3 generations graduate from WS schools. Our children are in WS schools are we would not have them anywhere else. I would not put my children in Fort Worth ISD...its a really big district where Ws is 1/8 of its size. I love WS schools. I however do not live in the city of WS, I live in the ciy of Fort worth.

White Settlement schools suck in 2 grade I still didn't know how to read are spell. My mom never wanted us to go there but they didn't have the money for us to go any where else.
