maam exactly how tall is she in inches because my son is 22 months today and weighs 39lbs so see it could be normal and his dr has never said anything about him being overweight any questions just contact me @ ____@____.com
I have a 22month old who is 40 lbs and almost three feet tall. She doesnt eat alot and is extremely active. We have done the routine blood and urine tests which all came back negative and now have gone to an endocrinologist who wants to run DNA testing for obscure glandular disorders....I feel that we should wait a few months to see if she tapers off and grows into her weight, any suggestions?

I am sure that with time you will see that her height will increase, but her weight will taper off. I ran into the same problem with my son who is now 3 1/2. I would not do anything drastic, yet, if you feel everything is ok on your end. Sometimes I think that doctors are so worried about obesity that they jump the gun.
While its normal for kids to grow in different ways, I'd say trust your doc on this one. I don't think they run DNA tests just because... Assumably you don't want this to end up being a bigger problem?
There are some things that you might be able to do early on to help.
Good Luck.
My daughter grew real big real fast also. She was around that size at two and went from being a 2T to a 5T almost overnight. Luckily, she has been about the same weight for the last two and a half years. She has been growning in height instead of width quite a bit. She has always been a good eater;veggies, fruits, soup, salad etc. Her pediatrician is happy with all her percentiles and says she is extremely healthy. My second child is very average size. It just means that as long as you are feeding your child healthy food and they are getting plenty of exercise...they will be healthy and grow at their own rate.
I am a firm beliver in not putting off the Dr. If there is a problem, the sooner you know about it the better. and if not, then at least you know. I would get the test just to be safe.
its better to know now than later. it could be something serious. but it may not. my two yr old is 23 pounds. i dont know how tall she is? and my 4 yr old is 55 pounds but he is up to my chest and i'm 5'4. he is very tall like my husband. could be a thyroid problem? well i hope they find out what is going on. i was watching a medical show and there was a little girl who did the same thing. but she would get really big and then really small. it was something to do with endocrinology but i dont remember exactly what it was. best of luck. hope she is fine!
You say she doesn't eat much, but what types of food does she eat? How does she look? Is she drinking juices and milk or water?
Work with the doctor and perhaps a nutritionist. 40 pounds is pretty heavy for a 2 year old.
