Overnight Childcare - Mesa,AZ

For my husbands birthday, my birthday, and our anniversary my husband is taking me to stay over night with no kids. I am terrified to do so, but I am assured that everything will be ok. My mother and sister will be watching the children, which makes it a little easier for me to do.

Anyway to my question. I breast feed my son. In the past my husband has given him some formula when I was out and didn't have anything pumped. The formula made Him sick, so while I am away I want to make sure that I have enough breast milk. After everytime I feed him I pump the oppisite breast, he only eats one side at a time. I get anywhere from .5 ounces to 2 ounces sometimes. I would say in total I get about a bottle a day. For some reason I am terrified that I won't pump enough for my little boy.

Does anyone know anyway to maybe produce more milk?? I have never had any issues with my son not getting enough. But I want to make sure I have enough milk for him to last 24 hours. He eats about every 2 hours. I figured that is 12 bottles, minus maybe 2 or 3 for when he sleeps. I have 11 days to get 11 more bottles. From what I am believing this should be enough time. But I am still terrified it isn't.

Any information I would love on how to solve my problem. Shoot if it is even a problem.

Sorry if this doesn't make any since, and thank you in advance if you understand what the heck I am talking about and have any information that may help me :)

thank you
T.

Go to Sprouts (or any health store) and get the herbal supplement called Fenagreek (I'm not sure if that's spelled right) and Mothers Milk tea. It's been awhile since I breastfed my children, but I used both of those to increase my milk supply and I found a noticeable difference.

To increase your milk supply you can take Fenugreek. It is an herb that naturally raises your prolactin levels. You can get it here www.everymotherandchild.com (or in the store in Mesa). Or youcan buy the capules at Whole Foods or other vitamin type store. If you get just capsules you can take up to 3 capsules 3 times a day.

Of course pumping extra is a good way to increase your supply. Keep doing what you are doing and when you baby is done nursing pump that breast for about 10 minutes about 3 times a day. It takes about 49 hours to adjust your milk supply, so don't stress out! (STRESS REDUCES MILK SUPPKY) You'll be fine.

Don't forget, while you are away with your hubby, youa re going to have to keep up the pumping schedule! So you may not want to increase your supply too much *wink*

Good Luck!

I suggest, while you still have a few days to "experiment", try putting a little bit of formula in with the breast milk. See how he reacts to it. I was about your age when I left my boys to go away for the weekend, and when I got back, my boobs were so swollen from not having my baby to nurse, so keep that in mind. You are concerned about your son, which is understandable, but think about yourself too. Your Mom is GRANDMA, she knows what she is doing, trust her, your babies will be fine. Go have fun, and try the mixture, if it still makes him sick, maybe try some Gerber oatmeal, it will thicken up the breastmilk, and he will get fuller! I hope it helps!!

You might also want to try renting a hospital grade pump for just a few weeks- until your date. They are much more efficient at getting milk out, that way you'll get more at each pumping session. Good luck and have a great overnighter!!
