Just found out I have an ovarian cyst. It's not very comfortable. I am taking OTC Meds and waiting and seeing what will happen. Have any of you ever had a ovarian cyst? How long were you in pain? Did it go away on it's own or did you need additional treatments? Thanks for any help!

What can I do next?

I get them pretty much every month. Some become rather painful especially if I run or something, and some are just minor irriatations. I have not done any treatment for them, they just go away when I get my period. Sorry that you have one. If it is any comfort they are pretty common really. The only bad thing is if they dont eventually go away on their own. Birth control pills are supposed to help with them, though I am on BC they still seem to come every month! LOL! Good luck!

I had one in my 20's that hurt during intercourse on occasion. The doc said the pain could come and go intermittently ... and it did. I never had anything done with it and it hasnt bothered me in years.

I've had them a few times. Twice I've needed more than OTC meds, but usually they're pretty uneventful. I think it depends on the person, and the month, though. My friend gets really painful ones and so does my cousin. Hope you feel better soon, and it doesn't get more painful.

Yes, I did and do. It got better every time I had a baby. Endocreme progesterone cream helped until I became allergic to it. But after just having my 5th baby, it's much better now. Good luck!

I have them every cycle. They are extremely painful, and I can feel them they get so big. I do not get treatments because I cannot have hormones due to tumors in my liver. So I deal with the pain each cycle. Sometimes I take Ibuprofen which does help in the pain.

Many times they will go away on there own. My daughter had a couple, they did testing to make sure there was nothing else going on. If it happens to enlarge and is really getting the best of you, they will remove it surgically. This may limit your chance of pregnancy however even those with one ovary can get pregnant. I wish you the best. My daughters' went away after about 6mths.
