Outdoor Fire Pit "Tools"

We built a nice outdoor fire pit & patio last summer, and I want to buy for my husband a tool to "stoke" the fire. Do you have any recommendations?

Specifically I'm looking for something that he can use to pick up/move about the logs while in the fire. He currently uses a stick he found in the woods and while he may like the challenge of pushing the burning logs around with a stick, I'd rather we had a "proper" tool for it. I looked at 1 or 2 fireplace stores, and I think a fireplace tool would be too short. Any ideas or websites?

What can I do next?

My hubby wouldnt use store bought tools either. Actually all of our friends with fire pits DO NOT have tools... you might want to save your money. Just sayin', they like it to be natural as if they were outdoors rather than in the backyard of a neighborhood.

You can use any fireplace tool kit from Home Depot--the kind that is intended for your indoor fireplace.
