I went to the chiropractor and after the x-rays found that my tailbone is sticking straight out. 3 adjustments later it is most likely 99% back where it should be. But ever since he started with the adjustments to fix my tailbone, my upper and middle back have started hurting. and I am having a hard time sleeping and today my shoulders are even aching and in pain. He adjusted my upper and middle back today and said that when your lower back is off it messes with the rest as well. That makes sense to me, but it didnt start hurting until after the 2nd adjustment. This is not my first time with him, he fixed my neck and back about 9 months ago and he was awesome. He has worked on my entire husbands family, he does accupuncture, and tons of other therapies as well. I guess my question is, have you ever had issues with your lower back/hips and once you started getting it worked on started having worse pain than the lower start in the upper? My lower back and hips do feel so much better but now from the tops of my shoulders down into my hips and my right thigh are just sore and achy. Did this happen to you? Should I be worried? I have inherited so many of my mothers health issues that I cant help and be hypochondriac-ish and worry that it is the begginings of Fibromyalgia or something(which she suffers from). TIA. and sorry for whinning and not making a lot of sense!

What can I do next?

i don't know much...i have not been to a chiropractor, and you say you trust this one, BUT that's what i've heard about going to them. it's a snowball effect- that once they "fix" one thing, all this other stuff crops up and you can never stop going.

just what i've "heard" mind you! take it with a grain of salt :)

Remember the song we sang when we were kids: the toe bone is connected to the foot bone, the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone.... you know the song. Well, it it TRUE!

Yes, this can happen. I know a lot about this stuff: I have a hip problem from an old surgery and it is now creating problems in my shoulder. My son had lower back problems for 4 months until we went to a chiropractor and for massages and now his upper back is slightly sore.

Weak muscles get help from all the other muscles nearby when they can't do the work, or when bones are out of alignment, you are asking of them. When the strong muscles get over-tired they complain at us.

If you trust your chiropractor and it has helped, follow his recommendations for future treatment. You need to be adding yoga and pilates into your exercises. These programs will stregthen your core and
balance out what has occurred in your body. You could also ask your chiropractor for exercises to do.

This can happen with chiropractic. It can also happen with PT. You mess with muscles that have not been used in a certain way and it can cause muscle aches, pinched nerves, stuff like that.

I would let him know what is going on. Take ibruprophen and ask about getting a massage. Does he have a massage therapist on staff? Find out if you need heat or ice.

Do you have a donut to sit on? You should DEFINITELY get one of those. Target or Walmart has them. I had to sit on something like that for 6 months when I went through this kind of thing with my tailbone.

Good luck!
Dawn

I would ask your doctor about getting a massage.

I only get massages when I have back pain.
I'm not a fan of Chiropractors but that is my personal preference.

Again, I'd ask your doc.

Ooh very much so sounds just fine to me...I have had this happen many times with chiro...Good news is after a few more adjustments things should be feeling better. When you have a major move other areas are bound to hurt.

I agree with Dawn. Also check if there are excersizes, stretches you should do to help your muscles get used to where they are supposed to hold your spine.

I would hardly be able to function without my chiropractor. So if you trust him, continue. Massage would also help. Ask him about using a foam roller.

You need to tell you chiro apout your new pain. It could be something with one of the adjustments he's made. I usually give the pain a few days after an adjustment (if I have any) to see if it subsides and it usually does. If not, I go back in. Good luck and God Bless. And I hope you feel better!

Everything this is connect, your remember the song, your toe bone is connected to your foot bone your foot bone is connected to your leg bone. Well same thing. I used to have tail bone issues as well. I noticed that once that issue was getting resolved my mid and upper back started to have issues. It is because everything is connect. Once you have lived a certain way for so long you don't even notice. But now that you have started to fix something the other stuff is springing up because it isn't in a normal position.
I do a lot of stretching to keep my tail bone in the correct area. If I don't I can't sit, walk, or lay without being in a massive amount of pain. I have done cortisone shots and everything with no relief. It has been the stretching from head to toe that helps. If my back gets tight I know right away because of my tail bone starts to hurt.
I hope this helps!

My husband got adjusted for something minor. He heard a loud crack and he has had back pain ever since. Dawn and Susan explained it pretty well.

Fibro doesn''t usually effect the bones/muscle, it is mostly in the nerves.
