ottiTake Natural Progesterone Suppositories During Pregnancy?

Hello, I am 4 wks pregnant and recently moved so I have a new doc. My test at 4 weeks showed progesterone at 13.8. The new doc's nurse (I didn't get to speak to the doc directly b/c she was busy) said it was normal and she was only giving me suppositories because my last OB had prescribed them for my previous pregnancy at this level for the first trimester. I of course want to do what's best for my baby, but a) I am always worried about the risk, particularly for hypospadais (caveat: from one article that other babycenter parents seem to be talking about that did not make it clear if it was clumping progesterone and progestin into the same category) if it's a boy. During my last pregnancy, while I luckily ended up with a healthy baby, I had headaches and nausea all nine months, an unusual almost 3 day labor at 42 weeks which ended up in a C-section, and low milk and a host of feeding issues. I was wondering if things would have been easier especially for my baby with the feeding had I not taken it. What would you do?

What can I do next?

Progesterone above 12 at 4 weeks gestation is considered very normal. Please ask them to repeat your progesterone and quantitative hcg in a few days to see if both are rising (48-72 hours is typical). If both are rising appropriately, I'd encourage you to not to use the progesterone suppositories as they would not be necessary. I don't think your nausea, headaches and difficult labor are related to your use of progesterone. I hope this pregnancy is much more enjoyable. Congrats and best wishes! Nurse Midwife Mom of 3

I was going to say that's a really good number...
I had low progesterone w/ my last pregnancy, but this pregnancy has been fine. So if your number is good...I'd wait.
Best wishes and congrats!

If the Progesterone is not needed then I probably would not take it. I would call the Dr. and ask him specifically.
I have a history of miscarriages so my last pregnancy I was on Progesterone. I did deliver a healthy boy! I was sooooo sick during the entire pregnancy but was as well with my daughter, and was not on progesterone with her. The Progesterone did not effect my milk supply and I was able to have a natural quick V-Bac with him. My daughter was a emergency c-section, and also had nursing issues, but once again, I wasn't on the progesterone w her.

Good luck! Congratulations on your pregnancy and I'll be sending healthy pregnancy and delivery vibes your way!!
