Hello there! Not sure what type of nipple avent has, but my son LOVES Dr. Brown's. Give it a try, it really reduces air as well. Good Luck!
I have used AVENT bottles on my two older children without any problem. My 2 month old will not take a bottle, and I am returning to work part time soon. Can anyone recommend another bottle/nipple that worked for them? It would be nice to be able to leave for work knowing that she will be able to eat while I am gone.

Dr Brown worked for me! They are more than others, but I think they are great!
We LOVE the dr browns and the avent nipple is much harder than a breast nipple so a softer nipple that is a normal bottle nipple may work better for you.

Try Dr. Brown's. I used Avent on my first for select bottle feeding, but my second preferred the Dr. Brown's over the Avent. She would take the Avent, but had an attitude about it.

Hi E.
my third and fourth grandsons both used Dr. Brown bottles and both my Daughters swear they are the best in the world. We tried other nipples and bottles with both and they won't drink as much as they do with the Dr. Brown nipples. Pluss the nipples come in stages.
Hi E.,
I'm not sure how much advice I can offer but I can tell you that I have 4 kids and with my oldest we used playtex airvent and I LOVED them. When our second was born we continued to use those but he has sever acid reflux so the doctor suggested that we switch to Dr Browns Natual Flow. His reflux got much better and he was much less fussy. When our twins were born we decided to stay with the Dr Brown bottles and we never had any problems with them...the twins were even a little premature and the Dr Brown bottles worked great. Hope this helps! Good luck!

My daughter did not like the avent nipples either. I had success with the Dr. Browns brand. But we did have to try a couple of times. I also was told to let hubbie (or someone else) feed her and you leave the room if necessary. If you are around they may still want to nurse. I think it is a trial an error thing. Keep trying.
I will throw a different twist out for you.
Mine were more accepting of the bottle after I used a nipple shield. It is a regular bottle nipple like you see on many gerber type bottles.
But it is used in breastfeeding to protect your nipples when they get sore. So the baby is getting milk from you, and is almost exactly the same, but from that hard rubber nipple. LOL
So he/she has to figure out how to suck on it and learn that although the nipple changed absolutely nothing else did--until I started sneaking in a real bottle full of pumped milk. ;-) But the baby did not mind at all by then.
good luck
I nursed my oldest for 2 1/2 yrs and am currently nursing my 6 month old. Neither of them liked bottles while I worked (which was a day or two a week). The elder daughter finally took a liking to the Adiri Breatbottle Nurser, which is pricey, and the younger tolerates the Playtex Naturalatch Drop-In system, with the Latex (only) nipple.
Have you considered eye dropper, cup, or finger feeding with an SNS system, instead of a bottle?
I do alot of breastfeeding counseling at my job, and I always suggest second nature bottles. You can look them up online, and I know some babies'r'us carry them. They only down side is that you have to be very careful when you wash the nipples, because they have many tiny holes in the top instead of one big hole. The nipples work just like the breast in the sense that no milk drips out unless baby sucks. Good luck!
The Avent Sippy Cup - my boys wouldn't take a bottle either. The youngest started with a sippy cup at 3 months. The oldest had to be "straw fed" until he was old enough to suck it himself.
My girls loved the NUK style, silicone nipples. I think Playtex makes them. You can use them with pretty much any type of regular sized bottle. They are suppose to be the best ones for switching back and forth between the breast and bottle. My oldest did not like the Avent ones either. We switched to these and have since used them for all my girls. I think they preferred these to breastfeeding actually.:)
I have tried many bottle nipple styles (it is not so much about the bottle as the nipple) as a lactation consultant where many moms come to me to help get thier baby on bottles from exclusive breast. Medela, Ameda, Avent and Dr Brown all have a similar and often interchangeable nipple style. If your baby likes them, great. What we find is that breast babies don't get the whole change in tongue and gum position to create the suction for suck and swallow skills. I used to only refer to the Second Nature, but when I started selling them for awhile I found too many complaints about membranes cracking in the end of the nipple. Also without negative pressure they won't leak and since a baby has to pull the tongue back even with these, often they just want to chew and couldn't get the hang of sucking on it.
I now sell the Adiri bottle (it flies off the shelf faster than the manufacturer can get it in the store for me so I have them back ordered a lot). The baby must use the lips and tongue exactly like breastfeeding and makes the seal with lips instead of thier gums. This really is a revolutionary new product that I swear came about from the "manery gland" joke from Meet the Fockers. Actually he had it in production when the movie came out. His daughter reengineered it to meet some initial problems.
I have done some trials with it and have used it on premies, that went back and forth without difficulty, a 3 week old and several babies as old as 8 months that refused every bottle on the market until this.
I have a few on my shelf's right now if you would like to call we can hold one for you, they go really fast.
Good luck,

I tried every bottle on the market. My fav is Playtex with slow flow nipples
My oldest son was on the playtex bottles. And i know this is ganna sound crazy, but he wouldnt take a clear nipple, only a brown one, and only certain ones. My youngest didnt care, he would take anything. Good Luck, Hope this helps.
I think it's all personal with your baby. We had success with BreastFlow. You can buy them at target. (Although we used avent as well- so not sure if these would work if your LO is rejecting Avent.) Best of Luck going back to work.
I breastfed my son til about 9 mos and used the playtex nurser system. He did not like Avent either. I received the Avent and Dr Browns as baby shower gifts and when I attempted to use them, we had no luck. Then as a last resort I bought the Playtex Nurser Starter set while at Babies R Us buying those multi use pad things, and he took to that bottle and nipple instantly. I was ecstatic!! He did not like the brown nipples though...only the clear silicone ones in slow flow.
This allowed me to breastfeed longer because I was able to pump and let others feed him breastmilk through the bottle.
My advice is to buy a bunch of different ones and see which your daughter prefers. She's bound to like one of them. My neighbor's baby only likes these generic weird shaped bottles she found at Target.
My son loved the Playtex Drop-Ins system. He didn't like the brown nipples, just the clear silicone ones. I got lucky with him because when I was nursing, he didn't really care how the food got to him as long as it did. The clean up with the Playtex system was a snap. That's what I recommend. Good luck!
I have the best bottle ever!! I got it from One Step Ahead the brand name is Adiri. The other brands claim to be like the breast, no way, compared to this. It looks and feels just like one and my baby loves it. It costs about $13, but is worth every penny. My baby would not latch onto anything until this bottle.
