cornerstone orthopedics... my doctor there did an ankle reconstruction on me there about a year ago. They have a website, and they have two offices the one I go to is in Louisville, but I believe the other is in wheatridge.
Hell everyone. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I developed some pretty sever hip and lower back problems. It has been almost 5 years since symptoms started, and I'm pretty much in constant pain. I saw a chiropractor for over a year, and it really didn't help too much, and recently its been getting really, really bad again. I had to go to the ER a few months ago because the pain was so intense I couldn't even lift my right leg. The ER thought I might have had a pinced nerve (although with pain off and on for 5 years?) so they gave me a muslce relaxant to help with the spasms, and some pain meds, and suggested I go see my PCP to get an MRI. Well, my PCP took x-rays that came back normal and says that I shoud treat it with ice and ibuprofen, and reccomends I see a physical therpaist, or go back to the chiropractor. I've been doing stretches, they're not helping, and I already tried the chiropractor thing, and all it did was waste my time and money. I don't need a referral from my PCP to see a specialist with my insurance, so I was hoping maybe someone had a refferal for someone they could give me, or if anyone has had a similar problem and found a dr that helped. I'm in the southwest denver area, so really anything denver metro would be fine. Thanks!

I have a similar issue that stems from when I was pregnant with my son. I am able to get relief by seeing a chiropractor, but also have a possible diagnosis from a different doctor (he didn't take x-rays or an MRI, just looked at range of motion and my history with the pain) should the Chiropractic stop helping. He said it could be trochanteric bursea (bursitis on hip), and also gave me a specific muscle to stretch - the piriformis muscle. He also mentioned prolotherapy as a treatment option. I included links for each if you want to look at them more. Since I have gotten relief from the chiropractor I haven't looked into these much. Hopefully this helps or at least gives you something to check of on your "not it" list. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear of your pain. It so impacts your everyday mood and comfort! I have had amazing luck with myofascial release therapy. I like that the therapist not only works on me, but teaches me how to do it on myself, so that I can self-treat at home when I have flare-ups. www.denvermyofascialrelease.com. Good luck to you! (Oh, they are occupational therapists trained in MFR, so the insurance accepts them in most cases)
I can't abide awful doctors.
Xrays are for BONES.
MRI's are for soft tissue / connective tissue.
My doctor is amazing. The moment my XRAYs come back clean, it's off to an MRI. My latest xray was gorgeous. MRI shoes I snapped a piece of cartilage off the cup that your arm bone fits in the size of a poker chip and stripped all the tendons/ligaments away from the bone. If he'd been silly enough to "just" go off the xray (we both knew from the pain and duration that it wasn't a bone injury, but xray to be safe)... I'd be considered crazy. Because the xray is gorgeous. Perfect bones. It's the tendons, ligaments, and cartilage that I screwed up 6 ways from sunday. Super easy surgical fix.
Similar to you, however, I blew out my knees. No MRI, and xrays were clear. 15 years later I'm on the "waiting game" for joint replacement, because a simple test wasn't run/ the problem fixed before it had screwed everything else up. I was told it was 'in my head', or I 'wanted attention', or 'didn't want to clean my room' (okay, that bit was true, regardless, but the crawling up the stairs bit... that wasn't just for effect). 2 years of physical therapy it took to be able to walk up the stairs on my own, and 13 more years of daily pain... when it would have been an outpatient procedure to fix the original problem.
See a specialist, get an MRI, and seriously consider a new GP. 5 years is a RIDICULOUS time to be suffering.
Sorry I don't have anyone local, but if you're ever up my way I've got a great couple of names for you!!
I'd see a specialist... could be the tendons, ligaments or muscles causing the pain - which an Xray would not even see.
